    Starview HD Combo Satellite Nudging.

    Hi

I wonder if there is a way to nudge the dish through the box

    to achive a better quality.

I have about 85-90 in signal levels but only 2 in quality.

Have a motorized system and certain satellites have a weak

quality. So my question would be if there is possible nudge

that satellite without effecting the others that are working

    fine.

Running Starview HD Combo with a motorized system.

You would more than likely have to change to Diseqc 1.2 and then re-store every sat you have to do what your asking, i think only a Linux receiver can do both Diseqc 1.2 and USALS at the same time in Advanced mode.

I am sure someone will correct me if i'm wrong

there should be no need for any "nudging" if the dish and motor and pole are spot on

it can definitely be achieved using diseqc mode and peaking and storing each position

if using usals, you should ensure the usals settings are correct first of all, and if any "nudging" is required you can alter the satellite position until it peaks the signal for you

so lets assume 26.0e is weak , change it to 25.8 and 26.2 to see which way improves the signal, then change it in 0.1 or 0.2 degree steps until you achieve the best signal

so before you start on 26.0e it will say 26.0e in the motorised setting, when finished it may say 25.7e which means it will go to 25.7e and not 26.0e, meaning that you have "nudged" the position by 0.3 degrees

repeat for any others that are "out"

but as I said, the real task is to ensure the system is setup correctly in which case each standard position will be spot on at the correct setting, and no adjustments (nudging) will be required

ps:- I would also reprogram it to spiderbox software, much better menus, better response and easier to use, and can use spider channel lists and softcams too

        Thanks Ramjet

I guess that make sense doing it that way.

        Is there a common

that you get a signal strength around 85-90 and a quality

        around 2?

you will get signal no matter where you point a dish, its the quality that is important

so signal 88% quality 2% means its getting nothing at all and either the transponder is wrong or has changed, (or maybe ceased) or you arent on the money

on my spiderbox (same manufacturer) I would expect signal at say 70% to 90% but more importantly a similar quality figure

any quality below say 40% and the box wont lock on

so quality needs to be as high as possible from 40% to about 98% depending on the channel being "seen"

bbc1HD and similar channels on 28.2e would be in the eighties or nineties for both here in the uk

            Thanks for that.

My Astra and Hotbird are ok. Trying to get Viasat and Canal Digital from Sweden working better.

Will try your advice in previous post to adjust dish.

or like the quote from jaws

"WE NEED A BIGGER DISH!" ( "boat" sic)

if you are in the uk you cannot expect as good a signal on 5e as 13e and 19e and 28e and therefore the bigger the dish, the better, I use a TD110 to get them

                Ha Ha.

I use a disc that I had originally came from my Swedish setup, when i was subscribing to them. Its a 1 meter dish and had good reception before.

They are broadcasting from Thor and Astra 4a.

So I guess I will give an adjust before getting a BIGGER dish.

                Thanks for your advice.
