Roberto Di Matteo leaves Chelsea after Champions League defeat

Manager Roberto Di Matteo has parted company with Chelsea, the club has announced.Di Matteo won the Champions League and FA Cup as caretaker manager last season and was given a two-year deal in June. But in the wake of the*3-0 defeat to Juventus*, which has left the Blues on the brink of a Champions League exit, he has left Stamford Bridge."The club will be making an announcement shortly regarding a new first team manager," a statement said. After an impressive start to the season, the Blues have won two of their last eight games. They sit third in the Premier League table, four points behind leaders Manchester City. The statement continued: "The team's recent performances and results have not been good enough and the owner and the board felt that a change was necessary now to keep the club moving in the right direction as we head into a vitally important part of the season."The club faces a difficult task ahead in qualifying for the knockout stages of the UEFA Champions League as well as maintaining a strong challenge for the top of the Premier League while competing in three other cup competitions.

What a joke Abramovich is, i'm not a Chelsea fan but even i can see the manager hadn't done too much wrong, a couple of dodgy results here and there but that's to be expected when a new manager tries to get a team playing his way, wonder if they've secured Guardiola's services yet?

      All saying Rafa.

Anyone worth there salt would avoid this job like the plague unless it's just money that they are after.

But managers that are wanting to build a team or play the way they want them to play will be constantly aware of abramovich and his policy of sack the manager wen a few results are not what he likes, so anyone taking that job that wants to progress his managerial skills will know his coats on a shaky nail.

as a chelsea fan i was suprised he got sacked so soon,i didnt really want him to get the job in the summer mainly because i feared it would be all out defence like the champions league run in last season but instead it was all out attack so i was quite happy about that and with the attacking midfielders signed but not buying any central defenders or another striker has been the weakness, i would hate rafa to get the job even short term i'd much rather have redknapp, abramovich is blaming the run of recent results but if you look at them not much has went for us with having to rely on luiz in defence who makes big mistakes every game and these days cech makes his fair share also, bad decisions in several of the games like the off side goal vs man utd, clear cut penalties not given in the swansea or west brom games and suarez push on ramires for liverpools equaliser which di matteo can do nothing about but you could tell in the summer abramovich wasnt keen on him as manager after it took so long to appoint him and has jumped on the first chance to get rid of him,i know every hard game has been lost this season but it was a hard group in the champions league and i've been very impressed with juve, anyone who takes the job should spend their time worrying about the defence not torres.

I can't see Rafa lasting too long either if it's true. He likes things his way and total control of transfers which isn't going to happen and some of the fickle fans will just be on his back from day one.

              Absolutely.

              It's a mercenaries paradise.

There's a few clubs around that people genuinely would only go to for money - Chelsea are one

Is Rafa such a bad choice ?

He won us the CL and almost won us the premiership and knows how to get the best out of torres.

He won't be given time, he won't have total control of transfers which is what he likes, he's too good for them

abramovich never wanted di mateo anyway - any reason he was gonna be out,

he wanted pep gardiola, but my opinion is abramovich wants to much say in the day to day running of it

Was Rafa at LFC from 2004 to 2010 and won the fa cup and CL, noway is that enough for Roman to keep a manager at his club and not win anything else. BTW almost means nothing in any team.

Rafa Benitez just been appointed until end of season

Chelsea appoint former Liverpool boss Rafael Benitez as interim manager until the end of the season.

                              THE TRUTH
                              The Hillsborough Independent Panel. 12/09/12

Today's report is black and white. The Liverpool fans were not the cause of the disaster.
The panel has quite simply found 'no evidence' in support of allegations of 'exceptional levels of drunkenness, ticketlessness or violence among Liverpool fans' and 'no evidence that fans had conspired to arrive late at the stadium' and 'no evidence that they stole from the dead and dying'.
