    Vu+ Duo red light

Right, I tried to get my vu+ duo up and running today. Firstly, I booted it up and it found the channels, I then installed my hard drive which worked. So all good so far.

I then tried to flash the latest VIX image which i downloaded and saved on my USB as the instructions.

The only thing i did incorrectly was that i put the USB in the box whilst it was on. I then switched off the box and on again now but all i get is a red light.

I thought it maybe the power cable but have tried my DVD player cable and it works.

I left the box off for 5 mins and tried switching it on but no luck.

Any idea on how to fix? Is there any way to check that i have not completely bricked the box? Can i flash via serial cable?

    Thanks

    Is it a clone?

If so, it won't work with the latest VIX images.

Yes its a Ferrari V3 clone. Any idea if i can recover the box?

What i find strange is i didnt actually flash the image. I just put the USB in, tried to switch on the box but got a red light.

Cant flash any image at the moment via USB as the box does not come on.

Also, im not sure if it makes any difference, but when i press the power button, the red light turns to yellow.

              Try another USB drive maybe?

Definitely the front USB by the way.

My sister's went tits up for no reason with a blackhole image - wouldn't start - only red light.

However, it flashed the VIX 2.4.155 image fine. First time iirc.

What image are you trying to flash now?

If you cannot get it to flash with any USB then that is why Ferrari provide a null modem cable and the IC security update board so you can flash via RS232.

Visit the vuplus official site and get the original 0.7.nfi image for for your duo with the VUplus flash upgrade tool and do it this way works all the time everytime

                  GOT IT WORKING!!!

So happy as i got the box working. The way you flash via USB is different than the guides here.

I put the USB in the box, switched on the box. At this point this is where you get the red light and there is nothing on the screen or LCD.

Leave it for 5 mins then switch off the box and remove the USB. Now switch it on and its flashed.

Next question is, nothing shows on the front LCD screen. How do i get it working?

take the lid off and make sure the connections are ok... the Q.C. on these boxs(duo,s not solo,s) is poor at best and there are some shoddy examples arriving on these shores, regards mdt

                      Ok will do.

Also i want to install VIX 2.4 image as that is reccomneded. I have installed 2.3 and that works fine.

But on 2.4, the VIX loading background is always there and it says service unavailable check tuner configuration when i try to change channel.

                      Any ideas?

Dont worry mate you can always recover these at a pinch with the null modem lead and IC security board if needed.
