Hi boys, after months and months of playing with it, killing and bringing these receivers back to life, any issues you have give me a shout and I will help you.

These are pretty much like a Dreambox with enigma installed, current images are improving and at the moment I have both these models running perfect.

Word of warning, these at the moment do not support Cccam.
They do however support Oscam really well, so it is not an issue.

Hi, I'm glad to know there is someone I'll be able to turn to for advice. I'm brand new to this (I've only used freesat up to now) My new Alien 2 is due for delivery tomorrow so I'll probably be in touch after a week or so. Anything I should know before I start ??

hi nunoamorim, quick question for you using a 8900, i have a portable hdd connected which works fine but when i connect it to a windows pc it doesn't come up any ideas? also does permanent timeshift work on the 8900?

Golden rules - When updating software, allways use the back USB slot.

If trying to install Enigma 2 on the receiver, make sure you have previously installed the Software version with uboot first

This is most probably because you formatted the HD on the 8900, which formats it as linux format, not windows.

I havent tested permanent timeshift yet

Haven't had a lot of time to get into it yet but I've had spark going and managed to get the free to air channels on Astra 2D, Astra 3A/B, EutelSat W1 and Badr 3. Can you tell which way I'm pointing from this ?? I'm thinking about a monoblock lnb so I can get a couple more sats, I think a motorised unit will be a bit expensive for me atm.
I've tried Enigma 2 but can't seem to get it to do anything and it keeps crashing if I try anything with my HDD or playing files recording etc.
I would like to know where to put plugins for spark and do they need to be unrarred, and also for Enigma (though not so important for Enigma) Someone pm'd me re a server (offering advice) but I inadvertantly deleted the pm without making a note of his name so I could get more details. Don't know how to go about it yet, but am definitely wanting to look into it.

The only plug in I have for spark atm is a calculator, I've got some but am not yet sure how or where to put them.
There is another thing, can anyone tell me what this loop through thing is about. It says in the manual that you can use another receiver through it, does that mean it would get the signal from the dish through the Alien 2? (even when turned off) like a splitter I suppose.

considering one of these or a icloud mini vu clone as next box would like to know where I can get a complete beginners guide to one of these boxes as only used a skybox f3 before. Basically I want to know how to set it up before I buy either one any help would be well useful

No, no internal hdd on my model. I think there are three different specs.
I have the basic twin tuner. There is also a triple tuner version and a version that includes a tuner for digital tv through the aerial (A/V)

put plugins on usb and name file plugin. The alien will ask if you wish to update . I use the front usb

Vlc plugin etc will do it with the box
