    Buying a new Box???

Hi everyone I had a openbox x3 that I had bought and I didn't like the laggyness and slowness of the box. I also didn't like the epg.
So I sold it. Now I am looking for a box with full 7 day epg, being able to watch one channel and record another - twin tuner or more preferably. I also want the box to be less laggy than the x3.

Therefore I have came to the conclusion to get.

    Vu+ solo 2 or vu duo+

I was wondering does anyone else know of any decent boxes around ?300?

    Thanks guys!

Which one would you recommend, is the new cpu in the solo2 much better than the duo?

the spec is better, but as its smaller it wont take a 3.5 inch sata hdd, and it doesnt have the same video connections as the duo

but you would think its an excellent buy and its difficult to call as each has its own merits , the duo being tried and tested and more connectivity and compatible with both sizes of hdd

but I dont think anybody can fail to be impressed with a solo 2

Hi thanks for your opinion I saw a gigabyte blue quad box with 1300mhz cpu is that similar to the vu solo2?

Also the harddrive isn't really a problem also, and video connections I will only need a single hdmi.

Also whats the different between fixed tuners on the solo 2 and the pluggable ones on the new duo2 to be released?

            thanks again

some are horrified that there is no display on front only a led light,i prefare to look at the tv screen instead, trying to keep costs down while making it good what more can you ask.
and that is for originals, only not clones.

for answers to questions like those you dont need an opinion from a hobbyist who probably does not own those boxes, but from an installer or professional who deals with them on a daily basis

so having read many posts on here you really need an answer from somebody who has experience of all of them, which would be digicon or somebody in a similar position.I am sure he will reply in due course

I agree with the rest, either 1 of the 2 you mention should suit your needs

Having had a vu+ duo and now having a vu+ solo2, I'd say Solo2 all the way. The Gigablue is similarly specced but lacks the gigabit lan and transcoding of the solo2.
Zapping speed is incredibly fast and I reckon once the devs make use of the extra power, It'll be a gem.

Get the Solo2 its a no brainer compared to the Duo, It has also been confimed that the fixed tuners in the Solo2 are in fact the same as the Dual Plug and Play Tuner cards, Which makes it even better than the Duo for those weaker signals
