merging Channel lists

Can I ask as a newbie.
I have downloaded and upgraded AJ's and MAST's channel list. I would like to add/merge the two lists, is this possible?
Is it easy and do i need any special applications to do this?

How can i open a .dbs file so i can edit it to my liking?

Sorry for all the questions but thought I would ask theguys that are experts at this.
