    Dreambox DM800HD Fan

    My 800hd is fan is quite noisy, I bought a new fan but no difference. Ive bought a 3.5 inch hdd cooler for 3.5 inch hard drives...

    Just found a link and think Ive answered my own question but the fan in 12v from the info here, so does that mean I can't snip original fan connector and and plug it into the dm800hd mobo.

    Like the only way to do it that way is to buy a 5v fan, is that correct...?

      hi mrblue, i used to have problem with loud fan, i removed fan peeled sticker off of the bottom of fan added 3 in 1 oil, dried any overspill. put sticker back on, then reinstalled it, i had to start/stop dreambox 4 or 5 times after just to work the oil in but it was fine afterwards, did it over a year ago and its still working fine.

        Yes you can use that as that is a mod i did see post 22, it will also turn off when you put the box in standby

          The 12v fan will work, it will just spin slower with 5v current.

          Cheers,

            Goo enough. Im not going to screw fan onto the top casing as dont want to destroy it. I will probably just put down a bit of epoxy on each corner which will def be strong enough to keep fan secured...

            i suppose this could be another less obtrusive option,

            [ame=http://www.amazon.co.uk/FRACTAL-DESIGN-FD-FAN-40-Silent-Series/dp/B0026CYRW2/ref=sr_1_11?ie=UTF8&qid=1360435727&sr=8-11]FRACTAL DESIGN FD-FAN-40 Silent Series (40mm) Case Fan: Amazon.co.uk: Computers & Accessories[/ame]

            This could be secured on the inside of the top casing and plugged into the fan plug on the mobo.

            Would this not be the ideal option and tidiest...

            I wonder how big of a fan we could fit on the underside of the casing, like jb weld will hold it no bother...

              I have a 12v 60 x 60 mm sitting inside the DM where the hard drive would go, held to the upper casing with rubber grommets tru the vents. Keeps the box running at approx. 28 c.

              Cheers,

                How do you check the temperature of the box, is there a plugin at all for it or do you just slip a temp sensor into the box...

                      Ive had my box running well now for past while but fan only seems to come on when encrypted channel is on, is this normal?
