Weak Signal, is that possible?

Hi all, i subscribe to virgin for my internet. i am on a 10 meg line and it is fantastic!

Anyhow i decided to get a "freeview" Eurovox for the bedroom. i split the cable and rn one to the bedroom, problem is i get a very poor jumpy reception. it is litterally all over the place. even on bbc 1! i tried a booster and it was marginally better i tried a attenuator and it made no differance.

Is it possible to have a weak signal with cable? if so can it be fixed?

If i phone vigin and ask them to fix it will they tell me to ~~~~ off?

Poor signal

It's sounds like a bad connection or faulty splitter. The connections are best made with a proper F connector (Screw type) but you need a crimping tool. If you have split outside make sure you protect connection with self amalgamating tape. My cables split 4 times using this method and no probs.

hi mate your problem is that every time you run a signal through a splitter you loose a amount of db's. a regular two way splitter will drop your signal down by 3.6 db on each output.
so if you were border line at your house you would have a intermittant picture on a genuine box too.

a normal v box has to run between -3 and +7 db.

if you are at border line then the problem is very simple, you need to have your CATV line taken up 1 tap bank to give you more db's. this will give you signal back for what youv'e lost.

the hard part is waiting to see one of the v lads in your street and asking them nicely if they could do you a favor ???.
