EPG and recording enhancements coming soon to ViX.

Cant really go into too much detail as this is all still very early days but i though i'd just post a few snaps of the upcoming EPG and recording function enhancements coming soon to the ViX image. Andy has once again pulled a blinder on this one and pretty much rewritten the entire EPG from the ground up in the process.

    Hope you like it.

this what you get if normal EPG screen.

this what you now get when pressing REC button.

the menu now follows the cursor around the screen.

More to follow but i cant show every thing yet ( wont be long though ).

    another Quick Teaser.

The first picture shows the older Graphical EPG with the Program synopsis in the top left corner of the picture, the second picture shows the new Graphical EPG with a navigable Bouquet list in the same location. you can switch between the two simply by pressing the "TV" button while in the Graphical EPG.

This is still all very early days but looking very good and a credit to andy's hard work.

Not a Criticism as i can see the improvement on the last Pic which has the

But to me it just seems to have mirrored what a $ly EPG does now with the 2 added options, where as they are clearly available anyway by locating your programme and either pressing Green for a single timer or press Blue for Autotimer.

        Just my 2 cents

The changes you see in the GUI required tens of hours of coding to get rite, but you are partially correct it now mirrors the sky uk option for setting a instant record / auto timer / series record as this is exactly what our users wanted. now when you press the record button while in either the Graphical EPG or Single EPG you are no longer taken away into a separate screen full of often confusing options, you are simply presented with the above options as in the screen shot. Then there are the Bouquet list changes for use while in the Graphical EPG again a direct user request.

There is more to come on the above changes but those are still in testing, i just though i would show users a taste of what they have been asking us for.

Would the epg work on a dreambox or just on a vix image ?
Am thinking of getting a solo2 so it would be a great point to get the vix image.
Ps it the epg built into the image or is it a download ?

Everything is built into the image so no need for anything else, Cant believe i am saying this being a Blackhole Fan but i actually loaded the Vix image onto a TM-Twin i have and it actually works a treat obviously its missing a few quirks that Blackhole has but the EPG layout and the autotimer setup is a very neat idea well done to the Vix team.

You wont find a Vix image for the DM's but they do support all the other popular E2 receivers

Primarily because we dont have the hardware on which to test the resulting image actually works as intended. We did actually create a series of ViX images early in the 2.3 image series but they were abandoned and ultimately deleted as we just did not the hardware to test with and DMM have no interest in us working with them so we just binned the whole line.
