    Transcend 500GB StoreJet 25M3 500GB wii compatibility?

I`d like to know whether the Transcend 500GB StoreJet 25M3 has any known issues with wii.
It`s a friend`s console, so I don`t have all the information as yet such as which IOS is installed. A fresh IOS was installed a couple of days ago in a shop with the purpose of playing games from a usb drive.
The friend has the above mentioned brand. Should I recommend trying to exchange it for another?
BTW, how can I tell which IOS version is installed on the wii console?
    Many thanks....

Have a look at. Join the Wiihacks.com forum you will learn all there is to know, A program called Syscheck will tell you what IOS are installed but you need Homebrew installed to run it. read on bro' I have used many different makes of HDD with many different wii consoles USB 2.0 at least 5400 rpm has never let me down 7200rpm even better. you must turn of HDD sleep mode. all should be fine read on bro'

      Thanks grandpa1959!
Joined wiihacks and posted question there, too. Downloaded syscheck and loading it to sd. Pretty sure console runs homebrew. Will run syscheck tomorrow. How to turn off HDD sleep mode? via wii or via PC (with wbfs manager?)

        Welcome to DK.

It isn't easy to say which drives are compatible but there are sites that show the results of alot for drives.

        USB Compatibility List

        Transcend:
        - Transcend SJ25M2 500 GB - Working with IOS236 only

USB Devices Compatibility List - WikiTemp

You can download sysCheck19 from here along with alot of stuff for the Wii in the download section.

If you post a sysCheck report as intructed in that link then I will tell you if you have all the necessary IOS's installed.
