iphone 3gs stuck in recovery mode

hi all i have an iphone 3gs which is stuck in recovery mode i have tried restoring it via i tunes and i keep getting errors i also have nothing on the phones screen its blank the phone has had a new battery which is fully charged and a new lcd screen which is connected and i know its working i have no idea what os was on it or anything.

any suggestions?

Restart it in DFU mode whilst plugged in to iTunes. Google DFU mode. Works 99% of the time.

redsnow in Extras section as "exit recovery" option. Try it but a blanck screen is not recovery mode. Also tell me what errors you get restoring,they can help a lot.

i have redsnow 0.9.11b4 bet the recovery fix tab is blanked out the error on itunes when i tried to restore was unknown error occurred error 1394

also tried clicking on recovery fix in redsnow but it jumps to the instructions to put it into dfu mode which doesnt work

Cause i think something else is wrong, it s not stuck in recovery. Do you ever get to see apple logo or itunes? Are you sure you didnt messed anything replacing the battery?

never seen the apple logo or itunes tho itunes does see the phone when its plugged in and detects recovery mode i have another iphone here and swaped the boards around only issue with that one is the number 3 connector is broken the black bit u push down to lock it in place has broken off but it works fine if i can jailbreak that one which is on 6.1.3 then i can use a hands free cable till i can get the other one going

i found when i replaced battery in phone i had (after merket) part was the problem so i used a genuine apple product and all worked fine for me

I purchased a 3gs off ebay and i had the same problem. did this just happen to you? or did u buy the phone like that? what error codes are you getting from itunes. I gave up but i think mine had water damage on motherboard

Try booting up holding the volume up button till on the lock screen

Hello, did you solve your problem? I just met the same issue and hope to answer you and others.


You can recover iPhone sms messages or other file without iPhone, if you have made a backup before.

Here is the way you can follow:
1. Connect the iPhone to the computer with a USB cable.
2. Open iTunes.
3. If you have a new or erased iPhone, iTunes will prompt you to restore from backup.
4. Otherwise, Control-click on your iPhone under DEVICES in the left menu.
5. Select Restore From Backup...
6. Choose the backup you wish to sync and click the Restore button.
