    genuine VU+ tune fail

hi i only got my VU+ about a month now and at the same time had a new dish installed on the house. i have the box with latest vix image and the usual plugins installed which everything worked well up untill the other night when alot of channels mostly HD started breaking up then a 'tune fail' message would appear it was abot windy so i though maybe it had disturbed something, anyhow I checked over the coax connections and had a look outside at the dish and all looked ok, ran a scan on the box again and it would only pickup approx 50% of channells, i then got the ladders had a check on the dish and tilted it about abit then tried a retune and couldnt pick any channels up - so i had the dish installer call out this morning while i was at work and he said he made a slight adjustment. (although this could be my movement)

so today i rescanned as soon as i was home and obtained no chanells, i then restored a backup image in vix which had all the previous chanels listed but again all reporting tune failed! so instead of bothering the installer again i went to my mums a few miles away and hooked in the box to her dish all though i forgot to bring the remote so was stuck in the sports menu and either way the channells all said tune failed.

I have now got to the point where i have reinsalled a fresh copy of vix and performed a rescan again with no chanells found during a scan.. im not sure what to do now -i dont know if its the software/the internal tuner in the box/or a faulty lnb?

    can anyone help

You wont get much with 15% snr it is far too low. The dish may be misaligned?, The inner is touching the outer on cable?, The lnb is faulty?
Have you tried the box elsewhere? Easiest option.

Bringing it back to my mums later to test - I originally Brought it there last night but forgot the remote so could only toggle through the sport channels all of which got the signal error message aswell... If that doesn't work it must be the tuners in the box which is strange as it's only had a months use

Try loading latest bouquet or auto scan. Even try tuners separately. You could load new image and nothing else then try if no joy.

Had done all of those, anyhow took it up to my mums and re scanned and away it went and loaded all channels so it must be a dodgy lnb - just waiting on the sat installer to get back to me now

if you try it at your place now and the signal and agc are too low it looks like dish is off.

Problem solved! the installer had made a hash of terminating the connections on the end of the coax's and the shielding wire was touching the copper centre on both coax connections causing the lnb to short out - 5minutes had it sorted
