How do I unlock a HTC Wildfire

    Hi all,

I've got a old HTC Wildfire that's been sat in a cupboard which is locked to vodaphone but I currently use virgin on my new phone.

I want to use it as a spare as my other phone has to get fixed, and it would also be useful on holiday using local sims.

A local shop will do it for ?15 but wondering if I could do it for nothing at home?
Would flashing a custom ROM clear the network restrictions.

    Cheers

Well little update, appears there is not a free way to do it which sucks, still looking for cheapest way.

Where I dwell, the standard unlocking price is ?10... so that's not far off normal.

There isn't really a cheaper way unless you find a cheap code on ebay. But there may be a more expensive option that will work out better in the long run.

If you buy an XTC Clip you'll not only be able to unlock it yourself, but you'll also be able to unlock a lot of other htc phones. Or, you'll be able to sell it to a shop after you've unlocked your phone.

Most repair shops use fonefunshop for their supplies, or they go to manchester. A full XTC Clip setup will cost about ?50, but there's a seller on ebay offering the full kit for about ?25. Ok, they are in china. But who cares. The box, 6 ribbons & the schubert cable for ?25, this is also the Manole release, not the Raskal which no longer has support.

Oh, don't worry about not knowing what you're doing. There are detailed instructions for every supported phone on screen.
