The Queen's sovereign grant, which replaces the old civil list, has been set at ?36.1m for 2013-14

The Queen has received a ?5m boost in the funds she receives from the taxpayer to carry out her official duties.

The sovereign grant, which covers the running costs of the Queen's household, has been set at ?36.1m for the 2013-14 financial year.

The figure has increased from the ?31m allocated during the previous 12 months which included ?1m to cover the extra costs of the diamond jubilee.

I mean if the palaces etc where mosques who'd come to visit the country..

majority of the money goes into things we as the public use..

As some of you know and others dont the royal family owns a lot of land in London ,a lot in Soho,Regent street and other land across the country.
All the rent and profits go to the treasury ,at one time HM Treasury was making a profit on what the government gave Her in the civil list
Dont know whos got the best deal at the moment the Queen or the treasury

I cant believe im answering this..

But as your not aware, England had an empire.. it then united with scotland to create a united kingdom of GB.

It then ruled the world.. and the waves.. sun never set etc etc..

The hole establishment has 4-500 years history..

Germany, USA dont have the same history..

Think of it like liverpool fc,

However, whether I believe she should receive money or not, why should she get more than the 1% the rest of the public sector got? Surely she's a public sector employee and as such should get the same rate. Or are the government now saying that she can have a 20% raise this year while the public sector got 1% ? did her costs go up as a percentage more than anyone elses?

She's also a highly paid public sector worker as well, get's paid more than the PM, and gets a very hefty payrise, wonder if she took IDS's option and paid her winter fuel allowance and TV license fee back to the DPW? Lainie?
