Dozy burglar caught by police - after falling asleep on victim's sofa

A bungling burglar was arrested by police - after he fell ASLEEP on his victim's sofa.

The sleepy crook was discovered by officers napping in the living room of a property he had broken into on Sunday evening.

Police were called to the house in Burton-upon-Trent, Staffs, by a neighbour who had seen the man acting suspiciously.

The 43-year-old, from Warrington, Cheshire, awoke to find three officers standing over him and was arrested at the scene.

He was taken into custody where he is being questioned in connection with alleged criminal damage caused by forcing his way into the property.

Was his name Rip Van Winkle and did the police telephone him, give him a crime number and ask him to come in when they were less busy, 'cos as sure as f**k if I called them and there was a burglar they'd phone up 24 hours later and offer me a crime number instead of catching burglars. Maybe it was a publicity stunt by the police force themselves....... a sleeping policeman in case someone was speeding (I'll get my coat)

Yes, they expect you to have insurance and claim on that instead of them getting out of their f**king chairs and actually doing some crime solving, or even crime prevention The only crime prevention they seem to take notice of is speeding bloody drivers and even then only on roads where it's like shooting fish in a barrel. I don't even know why they install CCTV cameras since they always seem to be broken when you need them most - usually when a crime has been committed, and they should have the bagrat on film, but can't even be bothered. Seems CCTV cameras are there to catch hardened litter louts, people who don't pick up dogsh*t and people who drive in bus lanes or park on double yellow lines.

The expectation from the police is that when someone does hand themselves in that they'll admit to a few thousand crimes to be "taken into consideration" in the area so the police can claim they've been solved and close the case.

don't mention cameras, where I work there is a big one just outside probably cost a bomb to fit I guess and it hasn't been working for the past 3 years, the police always ask us for our shops footage, maybe we should start charging them !
