skyboxf3 cant get it to work with recover firmware etc

hi got a skybox f3 it went off and coudlnt get it to work so decided to use the r332 method we the dead box recovery software ....all what happens when i press the next button ,,,,it keeps saying reset stb....ive tried various methods turning box on and pressing the next button ...ive tried and tested the power circuit on another box all good ,,can someone help me identify the chip that has gone down on the mother board ,,,,or tell me were im going wrong with this ive used the recovery .software off here buyt no joy please help bangin me head

Just to confirm. Are you leaving the box turned off until you see the message "Synchronizing STBs...please reset target!". Once you see this, then you turn on the power to the box.

SO I PRESS THE NEXT BUTTON WAIT TO SYNCHRONIZING STBS ,,,PLESAE RESET TARGET ,,,THEN TURN THE BOX ON ,,,,
I TRY THAT MATE,,,,,,IVE READ THAT MUCH STUFF IE TURN BOX ON WEN PRESSING NEXT BUTTON ,,COUNT TO 10 THEN TURN BOX ON ETC THANKS FOR THAT PS ,,,,WHAT FIRMWARE DO I USE TO LOAD ON TO BOX IS IT THE EROM M8 FLASH ,,,,,THANKS

Try this first from official source: RS232 tool = SBrs232F3-M3.rar firmware=skyboxf3f5m3.rar


This I think for the a clone maybe?: RS232 tool =F3_LOADER.zip firmware=hdSKYBOX_F3_20130123.zip

Use the RS232 tool and firmware togather either official or clone, if one them works let us know which one.

the f3_loader has a button for security core,don't know what that is all about.
If you don't select a file and hit the flash or core buttons it says can't open prog.dll
But if you select a file,then it attempts to load. I don't have an f3 so I was just playing with the loader.

I think the factory did an oops
The f3_loader.zip has a button to program the security core or flash and was on a factory website along with the other loader.
Today that file is gone off the site.

sc_flash-ok bin is the file to find to be able to program the security core or flash.

i stalled it and have been stuck on load

have tried with the RS232 and just stays on Synchronizing STBs...please reset target!

I had a F5 stuck in the loop (load) same as most errors on the openbox & the F series & dreambox i think

The files you all need are.......this is parts from other posts on DK & other forums so thx to all

Download the file:- "Upgrade_PVR800_HD_Tool.rar if this does not work which it didn't for me you need erom_upgrade_8Mflash.rar at the bottom

software from skybox.cc unless you have a backup image of your box on usb

depending on whether your box is a clone or not (this make a big difference) & you will get File mismatch if not the correct file

Once you have both parts of the software you need .....how to thx to HiTeck


Open the upgrade tool it will open in WinRAR.



Extract to your desktop or location of your choice.



You will now have a folder containing these files.



With the box turned off at the mains plug the null modem cable into the box and into your pc.

Run the Loader named EromUpgrade and select browse, pop box will load select the abs file as below.



Make sure the correct com port is selected.

Now switch the box on and press NEXT then follow the instructions to load the firmware.



If the process does not start, try various time combinations of switching the box ON after selecting ***8220;next***8221;

Don***8217;t switch the power off or disconnect while the download & flash is taking place.
You can also tick bootloader

Instead of loading eromceilent.abs load the firmware you have downloaded for skybox.cc

If you get the message below
synchonizining STBs
please reset target!!

1.not the correct cable
2.not the correct upgrade tool try the other

If you get file mismatch then you are using the wrong file download another but try to find out if your box is a clone

Once you have the firmware loaded hit the next button then plug the power jack into the box (no rush for this part)

you will see synchonizining STBs DONE
wait a few sec's

And if all correct you will see a new screen asking you do you want to download file click next
wait till this is done then the program will ask if you want to (download / Write file) click next at this point most important
Don***8217;t switch the power off or disconnect while the download & flash is taking place.

Once done your box will be back to life
load Aj's channel list & the partwecannottalkabout & chack your settings are correct & you now have a working box.....

If i have missed anything out i'm sure members will add to this

this will occur when the wrong loader is used. Guide above might be bit long winded but i have recovered a few boxs with finding what works for me from the steps.
the loader that worked for me was the erom_upgrade_8Mflash.rar and i first managed to get life back into box by loading first the SB.abs file and selecting load bootloader.

this however only seemed to get box powering back up which was progress from here i then used same recovery method but instead just used loader to install lastest firmware from downlaods and this sorted it for me booted up as normal. one other thing to check is once recovered succesfully check that the DHCP is switched back on had one that had Cline added back in but still never found and connected to server after messing around for a while found it was because DHCP was off so never picked up an ip address.
