I've got an R4i SDHC v1.4 that I used to use on my Nintendo DSi a couple of years ago and everything worked fine until one day I updated my NDSi to the newest firmware and I could no longer use the R4 card. I ended up selling that console because I didn't want to buy individual games for it. However, (due to nostalgic reasons) I want to get a DS again and I'm planning on buying a DS Lite from EBAY and I've still got my old R4i SDHC. My question is: will this R4 card work on the newest firmware on the NDS Lite or should I buy a console that hasn't been updated before.
Does R4i SDHC V1.4 work on all firmwares for the Nintendo DS Lite

it would depend on the card.
if it has a web addy on it then look up the latest firmware for that specific card.
basically games released after the firmware release date wont work.
pokemon games are likly to give you troublew, they're alway loaded with AP.
All depends wether the card is still supported or not.Comment

I used the same R4i SDHC card a couple of years ago and I was able to play all the pokemon games up to HG/SS without having to do any updates though. Anyway I went to the web address for the card and there was a kernel download for my card which is version 1.68b. Will these be good enough to support the newer pokemon games (Black and White 2) and will this run on the newest firmware for the DS Lite?Comment

To be honest I'd rather not buy a new r4 card seeing as they're hard to get gold of nowadays. I haven't actually bought a DS Lite yet and what I want to know is if I should focus on getting a brand new one (oldest firmware) or will it be OK if I get one that already has the newest firmware on it.Comment

you could get an ACE3DS PLUS card delivered for under a tenner.
that vcard uses woods firmware so will play almost any game....
just google ace 3ds plus and look at their list of trusted resellers....Comment
