Satellite on Dreambox 800 PVR with DVB-C tuner

    Satellite on Dreambox 800 PVR with DVB-C tuner

    Hi,
    I recently bought a 2nd hand Dreambox 800HD PVR 'satellite' receiver off ebay. On setting it up (or trying to), I noticed the receiver was a DVB-C one, which I understood was a cable tuner? When scanning for channels (after hooking up to my satellite), it failed to find anything. I assume that's because of the tuner? Can anything be done with this tuner with a satellite or would I need to change the tuner to a DVB-S one? Is that possible, and if so, how easy is it to do, and how much would the new tuner cost? Or would I just be best returning it to the seller for a refund?

      You answered your own question, you have 2 choices if you can return it then that is entirely up to yourself or you can get hold of a DVB-S2 Tuner available from any PRC supplier, Easy to change they are just Plug & Play.

          Thanks, as always, for the speedy response. Quick query re the DVB-S2 tuner- do I need one specific to the dreambox 800 or will any do, and how much roughly would one of those set me back?
