Have read all that thread but still don't now what lead I need for laptop....Please help.

its called an rs232 to usb null modem cable and you can get them in maplin for about ?15 or go to e/bay for a cheaper option.
if its an old laptop you may have a serial port on it meaning you only need the rs232 null modem cable.

look at the link again the need one of the two top pics and also the third pic if you have not got a serial port on your lappy ,if you have a serial port you only need one of the top two but make sure it is a rs232 null modem cable.

Hi ...its me again !!

Got the RS 232 cable ...do I plug it into the cable what came with the eurovox ?

Then what do I do..plug it in to the virgin box or my sky box ?...then what do I do next.?

At the back of your PC/Laptop does it have this socket,

Hi Hi Teck

On the side of the laptop I have the female thingie and the RS232 I stuck together with the lead I got with the 1000sl. Like an extension and it fits.
I have not even turn the box on yet as I don't want to mess it up before I get started...

You cant use a rs232 cable and nullmodem cable together you need to use the cable(hitecks first picture) that came with the box and one of these
USB to RS232 Serial Null Modem Cable COM DB 9 Pin Lead on eBay, also, Serial Cables, Cables Connectors, Computing (end time 29-Mar-09 14:59:33 BST)
