Help please ( Dream Box 500s)

Just bought a used dream box 500s off ebay "Working " for ?35 But when I turn it on it has Jade PLI image and just keeps looping I have ordered a null modem cable. But will this sort the issue is the box ****ed? Should I get my money back or what. I drove like 35 miles to get it each way.

You can always reflash it using flash wizard through ethernet cable....

download dcc (dreambox control centre) then head over to pli.org and bang on the latest image for your box..i n your case
OpenPLi-beta-dm500-maxvar-20130505-305.img
flash through null modem cable (rs232) do full flash erase.if its in german languauge just hit ya.
should take about 20 mins. then take it from there
