DM500s from china

A week ago I received my DM500s from china (Got it at a very cheap price) and it came with the MAC address 00 09 34 xx xx xx, so I updated the image to the latest gemini project 4.6 and so far everything seems to work correctly.

Reading in this and other forums, found out that there are other possible images that can be installed. As I'm a newbie to the dreambox world can someone advise me if there are any advantages to operate the DM500S with these alternative image files rather than the original gemini project ones?

If there are any considerable advantages which image is suggested to be the best to install.

Please note that I'm using cccam

Firstly welcome to Digital-Kaos,

Yeah most people use other images rather than Gemini one, I personaly use Darkstar 2 from Nabilosat for its easy to use functions, its addons, & how it looks, I know many other users here on D.K like to use the pli jade image I particularly do not like the way it looks but it functions realy good.

As you have a Clone you have addressed the issue of the Bomb attack by changing your Mac Address, but you still need to be very careful in the event Gemini send out updates for 4.6 or Gemini addons from there server I am pretty sure Gemini will have another go at disabling clone receivers in the future.

Personaly I would recommend to anybody with a clone to stay away from Gemini even with the Mac Address fix there are better images out there than that anyway.

Gemini 4.2 for over a year now and only upgraded to CCcam 2.0.9 recently from 2.0.8..

I have an original DB500S..

My channels clear and it never freezes..

I would advise this combination to anyone new to the scene

I have a chinese clone of 500s and am using an EAGLE IMAGE and cccam seems to work well most of the time ,have to reboot at least 2 times a week but I put this down to the fact that the clones are shi*e and not the software.If i am mistaken about this please let me know.

Gemini 4.2 is fine for a clone.. Only the later versions can cause trouble

thanks ops monkey might give 4.2 a try cause I don`t know if its the eagle image or the chinese clone thats crashing the box.

hi, i got a dm 500s from a few time as well, and i had ur same problem at the start.
there are several images u can use with ur 500s, i think the best way is to test some of them, so u can choose the one u prefer, and in the while you can learn a lot about your box.
i would be caruful with gemini images, other images working good, so u dont need to use the gimini.

ive tried most images on dm500s by now and love pli jade2 maxvar with xline skin. pli is the best image ive found for streaming webxtv. solid.
you no the risk if you use gemini on clone...

How come you didnt upgrade to the newest version of cccam 2.0.11 is the 2.0.9 more stable?

Yep any gemini image AFTER 4.2 has the timebomb in it so dont use on clones. Even if you mac is 00:09:

2.0.9 is very very stable, therefore i dont see a reason to change

Use pli jade the best image imo

Yes, PLi Jade is a good image. Very stable - not had to reboot in 4 months.
