    just got a dreambox, more like nightmarebox when it comes to setting it up

    well first off i have a dm500s and before i get harangued about this being a useless thread by a noob who doesn't have the common sense to look up his "common" problem on the forum i just want to stress that mine is kinda unique considering i haven't found any definitive answers on this site or the web for that matter. to begin my new dreambox is in chinese and their is no color what so ever, just black and white and this is just the begininng. i also am using a macintosh g4 so alot of suggestions and tutorials don't even cover how to flash the box by that means or how to network through it. granted on other forums i have been given some guidance but alot of people seem to forget my aforementioned barriers keeping me from utilizing their solution provided they actually dumbed it down enough for me to understand. so i'm sorta stuck between a rock and a hard place. any solutions would be thanked greatly.
    by the way what is with the fact that i have to contribute to the forums before i can download flash wizard (recommended on another forum) which by the way i don't even know if it is executable on a mac.

    use DreamUp and just reflash it with any image,
    being chinese obviously a clone so just stay away from gemini images.

    Bollox mac just noticed,,, is there not ay windows or linux emulator you have will let you run dreamup?
    boom!

          Wrong output setting

          My guess is you have the wrong settings for your output, that's why it's black and white. It might be set at s-video and you're using a scartcable. The picture will be there but the colors are gone. Happened to me on my 7025.
          You set it in "Setup" and it's the first option on the menu. (Menu/Setup/"Color Format") Don't ask me what it looks in chineese.

                As krypton says use telnet & an ftp prog

                ftp the image you want to flash to the tmp folder on the box.

                then telnet to the box
                Code:

                cd /tmp && eraseall /dev/mtd/3 && cp backup.img /dev/mtd/3 && reboot
