hard drive on compaq presario dead?

    hard drive on compaq presario dead?

    Hi all, When i try to boot the laptop it displays a screen that says PXE-E61: Media test failure,check cable
    PXE-M0F: Exiting PXE ROM.

    I have changed the booting order to no avail.I have also done the hard drive test in bios and it says No IDE Device.
    I have also reseated the hard drive and anything that can become loose.
    I would appreciate any help as i am not to clever with computers when they go wrong.

      had this happen. the hdd is knackered mate.

          your laptop cannot see the hard disk mate, but you already know that..... can you borrow a hard disk from somewhere to see if you machine is ok...? Unless you have the right tools/connectoers your best bet is getting the disk tested in another laptop or at a shop.
