Problems with the EX1000sl - No or bad signal

    Hi,

I've been having trouble with my ex1000l box since sunday, the picture is always jumpy or on most occasions showing the No or bad signal message, nothing has been changed or done before this started to happen.

I tried factory resetting and reinstalling the firmware on each different channel band and checking all the connects with no luck (also tried with and without a splitter been used)

The signal is always showing up at about between 80-83% so i dont see any problem there.

Is there anything else i can do to try and fix the problem? i dont think i've missed anything.

On a glitching channel press info button twice and check the frequency then try tweaking it in the user installation menu ie 394000 change to 394750 and save
read the second part of this

If its hapening on every channel then it looks like a signal problem
when on a channel press info button twice and see what signal strength and quality you are getting, also check if the signal is fluctuating (try a few channels)

check to see if the signal booster is on, if it is turn it off if it isn't turn it on and see what happens

I've been monitoring it on the user intallation menu for some of the channels and it does seem the signal strength is fluxtuating between 80 and 84 most of the time but occasionally it seems to drop to around 20 for a second or two before recovering.

Signal booster was set to Off changing this seem to have no effect.

for it to be dropping to 20% it sounds like a bad connection or maybe a kink in the cable or a dicky tuner
do you have a subscribed feed, can you check if its OK with another box

Im having EXACTLY the same problem with ex1000sl in surrey. Signal around 83% but shows no picture, or very jumpy. Like you said occasionally it does dip to around 20% but then back up.

Surely we cant all have faulty connections. Ive checked all connections and done a factory reset many times with no success.

The only thing i did find worked was a variable Konig attenuator. But i have to adjust for every channel, so a bit of a pain, but at least i can tune in when the footballs on or something.

                Maybe a box issue??

would a slight fluctuation in signal strength i.e. 80% to 82% be enough to cause a servere break up in picture/sound quality?

                        I'm having this very problem.
I've tried it on my normal box and theres no dropping out there
I've read elseswhere too about these attentuators (?8 maplin) will that defo do the trick

what type of attenuators are you looking at I've been looking at a signal booster (the yellow kind you get on ebay) but doesnt an attenuator reduce the signal strength?

I agree with Smoggy...It sounds like it could be a bad connection.I used cheap cable and connections to split my signal and one day all my channels just went and after going into my loft and wiggling the wires around a bit my signal came back and no problems since.if you are 100% this is not the issue, get a small bit of cable and connect yor box directly to your main feed and if you still get the same problem you know that it is not a poor connection issue. If you can't make yourself a small coax, you can pick up a f to f coax on fleabay for a couple of quid,it's worth it to rule out the possibility of a bad connection.
