Getting your AZBox HD setup.
Make the necessary connections between your AZHDBox and your correctly aligned Satellite Dish(es).
Initially connect the AZBox to your TV using a SCART connection.
Switch ON the AZBox, and with the Blue "HOME" button enter the "Settings" menu.
The next step is optional and can be bypassed if you are happy with the “Out of the Box” Setup.
Scroll down the list, and enter the “Data Reset” Menu, by entering the password “0000”.
Reset all the five fields ensuring a clean start:
Satellite list
Service list
Favourite list
Timer list
Preference settings

Go to the "Setup" menu and select “Language/Time”:
Set the four Language options to your choice.
Set the "Auto Synchronize" to either "Internet" or my preference "TP" (Transponder).
Set the "Time" to the time and date format of your choice.
Set the "Date Style" to your choice (I use European Style).
Set the "Time Style" to "AM/PM" or "24 hours".
Set the "Time offset" field to suit your time-zone.
Set the "Daylight Saving" to "Yes" or "No" depending upon the time of year.
Go back to the "Setup" menu, select “Internet” and setup the communications to suit your router:
Select the “Network” field to suit your requirement:
Choice 1 Wired Network:
If you are using a wired connection then select “Wired Network”.
In the “IP Setting field”, you have the choice of Dynamic IP (DHCP) or Static IP.
If your router is setup to DHCP, select “Dynamic IP (DHCP)” and select “Setup” to complete the selection.
If your router has static IP’s enabled then:
In the “IP setting field”, select “Static IP”. This will open the settings fields for manual entry.
In the “IP Address” field, enter an address within the range allowed by your router. e.g. 192.168.0.30.
In the “SUBNET” field, set this to 255.255.255.0
In the “GATEWAY” field, set to the address of the router. e.g. 192.168.0.1
In the “DNS1” field, set to the address of the router. e.g. 192.168.0.1
In the “DNS2” field, I leave this field blank.
Select “Setup” to complete.

Choice 2 WI-Fi network:
If you are using Wi-Fi , then:
In the “Network” field, select “Wi-Fi”, and this will take you to its sub-menu.
The AZBox will then search for a Wireless Network and when one is located it will be displayed in the window.
With your required network highlighted, press OK and this will take you to the Wireless encryption fields if the Network is encrypted.
If your network is encrypted navigate to your routers encryption type and press ok.
This will take you through to the pass phrase field.
Enter it using the “CAP/NUM” button to select alpha or numeric, and then use the keypad to complete the pass phrase.
If all is ok and the path to your router is established you then have the choice of Dynamic IP (DHCP) or Static IP.
If your router is setup to DHCP, then:
In the “IP Setting” field, select “Dynamic IP (DHCP)” and select “Setup” to complete the selection.
If your router has static IP’s enabled, then:
In the “IP Setting” field, select “Static IP”. This will open the settings fields for manual entry.
In the “IP Address” field, enter an address within the range allowed by your router. e.g. 192.168.0.30.
In the “SUBNET” field, set this to 255.255.255.0
In the “GATEWAY” field, set to the address of the router. e.g. 192.168.0.1
In the “DNS1” field, set to the address of the router. e.g. 192.168.0.1
In the “DNS2” field, I leave this field blank.
Select “Setup” to complete.

Exit back to the “Setup” menu, and select “Network Service” and then check:
The “SSID” field is set to “Enabled”
The “FTP Server” field is set to “Enabled”
The “Telnet Server” field is set to “Enabled”
(Use the “OK” button to Flip the field entry)
You may have to switch the AZBox OFF and then back to ON to establish your Internet Connection.
Communications with your Router and Internet should now be set up.
You are now in a position to update your software.
Whilst in the “Setup” menu, select “System Information”.
Navigate down to the “Firmware Upgrade” field and press”OK”.
All available software will be downloaded for your selection.
Select the Highest numbered update and press "OK".
The software will download and install onto your AZBox and it should then re-boot.
When this installation is completed, you can now install the required Plug-in items. These are initially, three URL’s used to communicate with the Alsat AZBox Server to enable access to the various Plug-in Items stored there.
I think the best way to install these is by using the FTP (File Transfer Protocol).
There are many utilities to automate FTP. I prefer FileZilla, but it’s a matter personal preference which one to use.
The above FTP utility must be setup such that communications between the PC and AZBox has been established.
Use this shortcut to obtain the three URL’s for placement in the /EMU folder within the AZBox main files:

Extract the file and then FTP the contents of the Folder named EMU into the /EMU folder on your AZBox.
You now should have access to the Alsat URL "http://server.az-box.co.uk/plug" in the main Plug-in menu.
Press the Blue “HOME” button and pan across to “Plug-ins” and press “OK”.
You should have a blank menu screen and:
A Red button, add plug-in item.
Also a Green button, delete plug-in item
Press the “Red button” and a list headed Select server to install will appear on the screen.
Select the URL "http://server.ax-box.co.uk/plug"” (This is the Alsat AZBox Sever Site) and press OK.
Select from “Select plugin to install” menu, highlight “OpenXCAS” and press “OK”.
The Plug-in OpenXCAS will then be downloaded and installed into your AZBox.
Select “EXIT” twice to reveal the once blank screen which now has “OpenXCAS” highlighted at the top.
Press “OK” and a menu headed “OpenXCAS” will reveal the following selectable list:
Camd Setup
Activation & Priority Setting
Delete Camd
Auto Download
Manual Install
Select “Manual install” and the Manual Install menu will appear giving a choice of URL’s.
Select: "http://server.az-box.co.uk/cams"” (This is the Alsat AZBox Server Site), and then press “OK”.
Select from the downloaded list of EMU’s, one or two items.
At the time of writing, MultiCAS_v157D-4T11-6B_2k90717.ta EMU has Digitv “free to air.
If you want this cam scroll down to highlight it and press “OK” and the EMU will then download and install.
If you wish, select another EMU, e.g. MGCamD_Full.tar.gz, scroll down to highlight it and press OK” to download and install it.
Press the EXIT button to return to the previous menu.
Highlight “"http://server.az-box.co.uk/keys"” (This is the Alsat AZBox Server Site) and press “OK”.
This will reveal the highlighted “alsatkeys.tar.gz” menu item, press “OK” to download and unpack the latest Alsat keys the correct location in the cams selected in the /EMU/OpenXCAS/ softcam files.
Press the “EXIT” button twice to return to the highlighted “OpenXCAS” menu and press “OK”.
Highlight and select “Activation & priority Setting”.
If there are any EMU’s commented out with a #, then scroll to that item and then press the Blue “Activate/Deactivate” toggle button to remove the #
You can decide which EMU has priority, using the Red “Priority UP”, or the Green “Priority Down” buttons on the highlighted EMU.
The last thing to do in that menu is to press the Yellow button to start the EMU’s.
Exit the “Plug-ins” menu, and pan across to the “Settings” menu.
Scroll down the list and select “TV Channel”.
Using the right hand cursor button to highlight the “DVB-S” item, and press “OK”.
Highlight and select “Antenna Setup” and then “OK”.
You have various setup choices to select from in order to match the setting to your Dish system.
The first Item is, “Satellite Name”. Scroll left or right to reveal the satellite that your dish is focused on.
Scroll down to “LNB Frequency” – this is normally in the “Universal setting”.
Scroll down to “DiSEqC” – and if you are not using a motor to select your satellites, use the “left or right cursor buttons” to reveal your required dish setting. If you are using a motor to control your dish, leave this field set to “OFF”
Scroll down to highlight “22KHZ Tone” and use the left or right cursor buttons to switch the tone “ON” or “OFF” according to your requirements.
Scroll down to highlight “0/12V” switch and select according to your auxiliary equipment if required.
Scroll down to highlight “LNB Power” using the left or right cursor buttons to ensure “ON” is selected.
Scroll down to highlight “TP frequency”, and scroll left or right to obtain a transponder with good signal strength and more important, good quality on the bar graphs above.
Scroll down to highlight “Positioner Setup”. Then use the left or right cursor buttons, to obtain: “DiSEqC1.2”
This menu allows you to move the motor left or right to search for the satellite and transponder selected in the previous menu.
Carry out this process until you have correctly located all the required satellites that you will use.
Or, USALS.
This menu requires you to enter:
Highlight the “SAT Position” field. This is the default satellite location that the motor will turn to upon Switch-On.
Set this to one decimal place e.g. 28.2E, , using number keys, and the left or right cursor buttons, to obtain the “E” or “W” setting.
“My longitude” - Highlight that field and type in the dishes Longitude to one decimal place, using number keys, and the left or right cursor buttons, to obtain East or West.
“My Latitude” - Highlight that field and type in the dishes Latitude to one decimal place, using number keys, and the left or right cursor buttons, to obtain North or South.
“Command mode”. Highlight that field and use the left or right cursor buttons, to switch between “Go To Position”, or “Go To O”.
Select, “Go To Position” and press OK to run the command.
Press the “EXIT” button to return to the previous menu.
In the “Satellite Name” field, use the left or right cursor buttons, to select you next required satellite.
If that satellite is not in the USALS database, then the “Positioner Setup” field will revert to “OFF”.
Use the left or right cursor buttons, to return that field to show “USALS”.
The motor will then drive to that shown in the Satellite Name field.
Repeat the above, until all the satellites required are entered in the USALS database.
Press “EXIT” to return to the previous menu and highlight “Satellite Scan” and then “OK”.
With the “Up” or “Down” curser buttons, scroll up or down to Highlight your required satellite, and using the “CHECK” button to add it to the selections.
Press the “OK” to Modify the satellites contents using the “Check & Scan” sub menu and uncheck any unwanted feature using the “CHECK” toggle button.
When all your selections have been made, press the “OK” button to initiate the satellite(s) scanning process.
With the scanning process completed, the chosen satellites should all be available to view.
The satellites can now be viewed and customised to your personal preference.
