Trouble Recording on EX5100 pvr

Can anyone help?

I currently have a ex5100pvr and am having trouble recording on it, previously it has been ok.

Basically when you press the record button it comes up on the screen "please wait recording in progress" this text then disappears, when you then go to the pvr menu it shows a recording of what you've just done but only 4 seconds and it wont play.

Also when you try to set up a timed event recording via the epg (timer) menu, again when the recording starts the screen goes blank and once you stop it after some time, looking in the pvr menu there is only a recording of 4 seconds and you cant view it.

Any assistance would be appreciated, do i need to format the harddrive?

If it was working fine before, u don't need to format it.
Try, deleating all the recordings, switch box off and remove HDD, reinsert making sure its pushed right in and try recording again.
If no good, try a reflash.
