Unlocked 3 broadband dongle

Also posted on the 3 dongle thread in Freebie section but thought I might get a better response here

Has anyone got any idea how I get my O2 contract sim to work in this, I have sucessfully unlocked the dongle, I can send & recieve text messages via the dongle but cannot connect to web, I have the unlimited web bolt on, I have also tried a friends sim ( also on O2 ) I have tried various dial numbers, usernames & IP addresses that I have found looking on the web, I have also texted WWW to 21300 as someone else on here suggested but got a network response "O2WEBANDWIFI has not been sucessful as your tarriff is ineligible" HELP!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

why I asked is you can send sms without connecting to the internet
does it connect to the net after you press the connect button and show you how you are connected

after you have put in the settings have you set iphone as default

yes nothing as obvious as that, do you have a contract sim connected via the 3 dongle? and if so what settings are you using

Thanks, but that's not the right settings for a normal contract sim

I think you need an I-phone sim, a contract sim doesn't work with the settings in the 3 thread.

according to the instruction file for o2 contract its

config name = o2
dial number = *99# (although I think *99**1# might work as well)
user name = faster
password = password
APN = mobile.o2.co.uk
preferred dns servers = 193.113.200.195 (I think this can be left to obtain address automatically)
alternate dns servers = 193.113.200.195
set o2 as default

Thanks, that was where I started, has anyone on here managed to get a "normal" contract sim to work or do I need the I phone payg sim?

your text that you got back is pretty self explanatory

The tarriff that your on doesn't allow wifi, if you dont want to use an iphone sim check out the boltons at o2 and ask if you can change to one of them, you get unlimited wifi with the ones on the link below

Not bothered about wifi, I have the unlimited internet bolt on and just want to get it to work with the unlocked 3 dongle

SORTED!!!!!!!
I just installed dongle on another pc, it installed globe connection manager and that is working fine!!!!!
