ATI Sapphire HD 4770 two versions- which ones best?

    Hi,

I'm a noob to this forum. My question is,
there's 2 Sapphire HD 4770's the dual DVI, and the HDMI. Which ones better?

I'm under the impression that the dual DVI version is better- as it's slightly more versatile with the tv out too.- the dual DVI one also comes with a DVI to HDMI out adaptor.

    dual dvi:
    SAPPHIRE- HOME

    VGA, hdmi:
    SAPPHIRE- HOME

Any help/input would be useful, Thanks

    Tony

Its never a simple answer m8...

The hdmi card is going to need 2 pci slots were as the duel dvi will only need 1.

What type of system do you have / or are you building... What are you going to connect it to and use it for... These factors will have a great bearing on what card you choose.

Give us more details and i'm sure you will get more opinions.

    Regards @manx.

      Hi,

Thanks for the reply manxspud. I hadn't thought about the pci slots before, as it happens slots aren't an issue to me.

I have a erm: i'd like to call it a mid range system->

Motherboard- Asus P5b- deluxe- wifi edition.
      CPU - Core 2 duo E6320 2X1.86
      RAM - 2GB corsair DDR2
current graphics card- Sapphire Radeon X1900GT currently overheating- (yay ) - note to others- don't buy second hand graphics cards.... it's not worth it!

a 1280by1024 monitor- with DVI and VGA input.
sometimes dual screen with either tv or a vga mon.

From research so far have found that dual dvi one has been replaced by the /hdmi/dvi/vga version- which has upgraded cooling.

From the website i've seen that the old version won lots of awards.- Sapphire boasting- yes

Had a google... It whould appear that both cards on sale will cover 2 slots... with the duel dvi been around ?30 less than the hdmi version, with that in mind i would buy the duel dvi with out thinking twice. I would also consider the Hd4730 i don't think you would really notice much diffrence between the 2 cards and this 1 would cost around ?63. saving you another ?20. See link...

Best of luck with the shopping...

Hi, everyone thanks for all the replies. Just so you know I opted for the Sapphire Radeon HD 4770 dual DVI card- discontinued now- only the vga/dvi/hdmi one is sold now. Am happy with the purchase is running Batman Arkham's asylum, COD4,and assassins creed perfectly at 1280by 1024.

Used an s-video cable to connect it to an old TV worked well for watching a film on too.
Better graphics output than the old X1900gt, however that card has video input which is useful.(and turned out the cards fine- just had dust clogged up in the heat sink) .
