update to new firmware broke my eurovox ex1100

I have tried looking for some similar problems on these and other forums but unfortunately haven't been able to find anybody having the same trouble.

Basically, I was having the Card Slot 0 in/out problem that i have seen a few people having where the channel would freeze after a few times of this message flashing up on screen.

The solution was to update to the newest firmware, which I did.
The trouble got worse after the update unfortunately. I followed the instructions given on the thread to the T but unfortunately after about 7 scans I am getting no channels showing up at all now.
The instructions I followed said to run a power scan after the firmware update which i did but after several attempts and fails i tried both deep and quick scan to no avail.
Also, I found several versions of Firmware updates on this and other forums and have flashed them all on my eurovox ex1100 but had the same problem every time.
Before I upgraded the firmware I followed some other simple solutions I read like changing the Scart cable and removing a splitter but I don't have one.

If anyone can let me know what's happened to lose all the channels and what I can do to fix this would be a great help!

    Hi there,
Im having the same problem with msg "slot in/slot out" and then freezing. however i just press OK button and the problem stops for a while.

I also had the same problem of loosing all channels and couldnt find nothing even on deep scan.
I managed to overcome the problem though.

So i suggest you make a quick scan after flashin wiht the original firmware and then switch off the box and switch on again. The channels should be there if the problem was the same as mine

      Hey thanks for the reply.
I actually took the box back to the retailer this morning and told him i havent updated the firmware (in case he didnt refund me) but all he did was plug in a memory pen and did the EXACT thing i did, i even saw the name of the file he flashed onto it and it was the exact same name as the firmware from this site!!!
anyways, I took it home and its been fine for 4 hours but then this Card Slot thing has started happening again......

The answer seems to be to update it with Firmware again but after the experience of last time (losing all the channels its not something i'm eager to do again)

Can I just clarify what you meant by your solution though please fiston?
What do you mean flash the original firmware?
Where can I download this, I thought there was only updated firmware available?

Do you mean run the scan before i take the pen drive out?

sorry, just want to make sure, ive heard its possible to brick these boxes and dont wanna try explaining that to the guy i bought it off!!

          Hey, thanks for the reply.
yes, everything was correct. I even tried different symbol rates but nothing gave me any result.

However, the problem has now been fixed..

The box was restored to its original state at the store i bought it from but started to do the Slot 0 Card In Out thing again but I updated to the Beta firmware but this time DIDNT re-scan for channels.
All my channels are still here and its been 24 hours since the problem with no Slot 0 Card In Out message popping up and no screen freezes!

So, not sure what I did but thanks for the help.

I was getting the slot 0 card problem however I decided against upgrading to the suggested new firmware as it was a beta.

Instead someone posted in a thread that they thought that the problem may have been something to do with placing the box on standby. I took his advise and opted not to turn my box off / on standby - so far (a few weeks later) I have not experienced the slot 0 card problem since.

This could just be a co-incidence. There were reports of others who had the problem simply go away, but it may be worth a try if you can't think of anything else to do.

electronic chicken, i haven't turned the box off yet! i read something about leaving it on for the EPG to sort itself out, so unfortunately this might come as bad news to you.

even worse. just today the box has started freezing again. without the slot card message this time which i have read has happened to other people but this problem seems to have no solutions as yet.

Mate i had the same issue with finding channels on my EX1100 it would ony find 10, the best thing to do for ease is to put it back to "Normal" with the FW before the BETA one, then do a search on the channels. Once/IF that finds channels, export them via the USB option in the menu (ChannelDump).

Reflash with the BETA FW then reboot, then copy the ChannelDump file back using the USB option in the Menu.
You will have your channels and will be on the BETA FW that does stop the slot errors (or at least it has on mine)

The actual thing that i did to get it working was a little different. I basically added some TP's myself by guessing what the frequencies would be 133, 155 etc (do search on the forum for TP's in your area it might throw something up) After i added a few, i rebooted then did a deep scan and it seemed to kick it into life and find over 200 channels. MAKE SURE YOU EXPORT THEM so that if it ever messes up, you have them safe!

                  Good Luck.

Updated to the new beta firmware to see if the epg was any better (mildly better than the original 01 firmware) and got the card slot in and out flashing up and the big freeze, worked out if you changed the channel wile it popped up a couple of times it went away (thank f**k as it was of a program i been watching) i ended up downgrading too the sept firmware version, it seems the epg a bit better but the picture quality ain't as great but no card slot bisness...do you reckon your channel problems are too do with the box and the updates that are needed to make it run properly or a connection problem, do you have another box too check out weather the cables up and running properly?? i know some ppl are runnning the box's 3 so if there is a problem from the street, as my green box outside is hanging open with MacDonald's packets stuffed in it as no one (VM or BT Council) will take recponsability for the busted doors, but when there is a problem i can stick the VM box in and check as my connection was out for about a 2 weeks earlyer on this year through there fault..
