eurovox ex5100 - me again!!! more problems!! please help me!

i have had problem after problem trying to get my eurovox ex 5100 to work, i managed to get the driver for usb cable but now i have another problem!

i am now gettin a message sayin "waiting for the response of your receiver" but it has been like that for ages! what to do??? pl ease help me somebody, greatly appreciated!!!!

happend to me your pc is not finding the box can you get hold of laptop with a 9 pin seriel port or try changing the com port

thankyou for replying, i am using a laptop, plugged into my laptop is a usb serial adaptor, into that a rs232 null modem cable n that into my box.
i really am not very good with technology, which is y i require so much help on ere !!
i need an idiots guide!!!
it comes up with a grey box with "eurovox ex5100 PVR" on it n "download" in the middle
i click on "download" n it comes up with "COM 3..." n a "start" box,
i click the start box n it comes up with receiver not detected, download firmware in boot mode
then has COM 1, COM 2, COM 3 and COM 4, if i select any other than COM 3 it says "COM port is not available" n if i select COM 3 it comes up with the waiting for response message!
i really dont know what else to do!

yes the usb serial adaptor is the problem i had this and sorted it with a laptop with a seriel port

Hey guys, I'm a bit scared now. i just had my Ex5100 delivered today & i'm a bit worried i wont be able to download software onto a macbook. I'm a bit gutted that the eurovox hasn't a usb port but I have an adopter now for it. (My macbook does not have a nine pin RF plug)
Is it best to download software update to an external hard drive then plug it into the eurovox? cheers for any help I get.

the usb end goes into your computer and the 9 pin female goes into your ex5100

Thanks camelv. I got the software update & its doing the job now. Only problem I have now is the box does not record or pause tv even though it came with a hard drive installed, I tryd taking it out & putting it back in again but still no joy, any ideas? cheers.
