    Which Eurovox is most reliable

    Hello there everyone!

This is Mike, from Kent - I am new to the forums. I have never used a Eurovox box before and I have a friend who owns the EX1000 SL and told me to get one.

In terms of Firmware I was wondering if there is one that is more reliable. My friend told me to get the EX5000 because the firmware is more reliable.

I was wondering what the general consensus on this board is? I was looking at the EX1000 SL to be honest.

Thank you for such a great forum. I look forward to hearing from you.

You are going to get a lot of differing views but both models you mention are discontinued so you'd be best served with the latest model which is the ex6000sd or go for a kryptview or dreambox lots of options available.

Does it matter if the other boxes are discontinued? I can still buy them, and I assume the firmware will be updated regularly? Is this correct?

the 1000 and 5000 were stopped because they were copied, so the 1100 and 5100 were brought out. so unless the seller is very bad at selling, the ones available will be copies, so could be hit and miss if software would be available in future.

Mike if you are looking for a plug and play box the kryptview would be a very good choice. Try one of the forum sponsors and you will get discount.

I got a Eurovox red, which is permanently on Cartoon network and works ok but no auto sort.

I also got a Eurovox 5000 that locks up every day and needs resetting.

Also 1100 USB, well ill say no more, and its been sitting in the box since first connecting and setting it up!

I wont be buying anymore Eurovox boxes

Seems strange that everybody that has old boxes have no problems! My red works perfectly, and all the new boxes are a crock of crap. Add 2 x 1000sl to my last post, as m8 I got them for has started to get a break in picture constantly :-(

thinking of getting a Eurovox EX6000SD - have read some good reviews but does anyone know of any downsides on this model? Also not sure of which HDD is most compatible (would a WD portable powered from USB be ok?)

That hdd will work with it ok, the downsides are how long will you get out off it with nag3 encryption threatening to end free tv for all of these types boxes. IMHO you should get well more than your monies worth.
