Mobile/cell phone hacks?

Greetings dudes and dudettes ,

Sorry i cant find a correct category to post this so i thought this would do . Basically my friend a good few years ago who went by the name of Ravi had a phone with ?10 credit on , if he made calls then after turned his phone back off then on again it would magically be back at ?10 , this happened all the time it was great call who you like when you like! as we all know dam well we are getting ripped off by those phone companies.
So my question to you guys is does anyone know of how this is possible or of where i may get hold of such a thing?

Ahh, the old Phillips cellnet phones. great they were. dont think owt like that will happen again. but you never know!.
