Hi Guys, wondered if anyone could answer my query. Am I right in thinking that I can hook up a 500T to the aerial at my caravan and get the freeview channels bbc itv etc?

I think that's possible. But it's an awfully expensive freeview box. You can get them for ?20 at argos.
