Keane may miss Old Firm derby
Celtic manager Tony Mowbray has confirmed that on-loan striker Robbie Keane may not be fit to play in Sunday’s Old Firm clash at Ibrox.
The Republic of Ireland international has not trained with Celtic all week after suffering a suspected knee injury during Saturday’s win over Dundee United and was left out of training for fear of aggravating the injury.
It was expected the striker would be fit to return for the eagerly awaited Old Firm match.
However, Mowbray today said it would not be confirmed whether he would play until Sunday morning.
"I am not going to tell you what Robbie's injury is but he hasn't trained all week,” said Mowbray.
"I wouldn't want to say how big a blow it is or could be because we hope he will be fit but we will wait and see. I will give the injured players as long as we can.
"They will have to train tomorrow and have no reaction when they wake up on Sunday morning, so we will wait and see."
Keane’s absence will be a major blow for Mowbray, who knows anything less than a victory against Rangers will make their league ambitions all the more difficult.
The Tottenham superstar was brought to Parkhead in a bid to boost the title run-in and pile the pressure on Rangers.
The SPL's highest paid player has been a prolific goal scorer for Tottenham and has scored three goals for the Hoops in five matches.
Rangers are currently leading Celtic by seven points with a game in hand against St Johnstone
