Default EDC17C56 (BMW N57D30) Missing Some Maps

    Hi All,

I'm a hobbyist mechanic from Europe, working on my own/friends cars. I'm driving 3.0 diesel (258hp, 560nm) with EDC17. I have some experience with EDC17C50 ECU as I had a BMW 316d before, but EDC17C56 is a bit different. I'm trying to create myself a stage 1 tune, but for whatever reason I couldn't pass 560nm. I've already defined almost 100 maps in WinOLS and modified some of them, including the following:

    1. Requested Torque by Variant (22x4)
    2. Maximum inner engine torque monitoring (1x1)
    3. Driver Wish (AWD and Standard, 14x8)
    4. Maximum inner engine torque (23x1)
    5. Torque Limiting Map (22x4)
    6. Sport Display Adjustment (1x1)

Still, I'm getting only 560Nm. The car has 8 speed auto gearbox. What I'm missing? Any ideas? Attaching both original and modified BINS.

    Any help very much appreciated!

I mate, you dont touch on almost all critical maps to make stage1 ,
    miss:
    lambda maps
    drivers wish
    single valeu torque limiter
    gear limiters
    duration
    torque to fuel
    Turbo pressure
    torque monitoring
    etc...

this is ecu have to many maps do mod.

if you begining on remap world a advise you start on easy cars like some edc15 edc 16

    Hi,

Thanks for the reply. I tend not to touch the maps that are not needed. Therefore, I haven't modified the Driver Wish map because it is not limiting:
    driver-wish.jpg
So, at 100% throttle it requests up to 648 Nm, which is fine for me.

Same goes for lambda, I.Q. duration, torque to fuel maps and turbo pressure: no real need to modify them, as they are scaled enough in the stock firmware. Since I don't have "check engine" issues, I doubt that torque monitoring kicking in as well (and I've modified at least 1 SVTM and 23x1 map):
    Maximum Inner Torque.jpg

Based on that, I think that I'm missing some SVTLs (they are very hard to find, because there are a lot of 2-byte values there, hard to pick the correct one) and maybe gear limiters (I was able to find them in EDC17C50 with manual gearbox, but not on EDC17C56 with auto). Here is how they look like in my 316d map (just for the reference that I know what I'm talking about):
    gear-limiters.jpg

So, still, any input is very much appreciated.

You measure Nm in sport display or diagnosis?

you´re right its low torque limiters.

if the car is stock with DPF maybe can be back pressure limiter or exhaust temps, do not allow reaching request torque, Arnold13 take a look on this ones:

Torque limiter back pressure 36FD1C 8X13

Torque limiter by exhaust temp 36FE4E 8X12

I'm using VehiCAL high speed datalogging and the numbers are more or less aligned with the sport display measurements.

36FA7C - its 350 Nm in stock map, could not be limiting, because engine outputs 560Nm
3703D2 - this is a Starting torque limitation with closed compressor bypass - could not be limiting, all the values in 1500-3000 rpm range are above 630
3016BB (I guess you've meant 3016B8) - I see the map, but could not understand the axis and factors. Same for 301740.
    unknown-factors.jpg

3C83FA - 380 Nm, could not be limiting because engine outputs 560Nm
    3C8396 - Not relevant
38D53D - VSS is not an issue

36FE4E - mostly not limiting past, because DPF operates at lower than 500 deg C. At 1500-3000 it gives more than 700 Nm. Anyway, checked and edited. No result.

Not the case. Local tuners just upload stage 1 firmware on the same car as mine, without any TCU reflash and achieve at least 630 Nm.

What about it? I have this map defined as well. On everything less then 84 degrees C it is not limiting after 1000 rpm. I don't know what you need to do to get a diesel fuel up to 84 degrees. Mine is around 40 C in the logs.

These should be all limiters, 3D3FB0 maybe isn't used. I also included the sports display maps.
Dont forget that NM to IQ and few TQ Limiters use internal torque.
If you need help pm me. With proper stage1 autobahnsafe 680-700nm are possible .

    edit:
    forgot 36FC9C TQ limiter 8x1

Thanks a lot, man. Really appreciate your effort! The only maps that I were missing are 3 SVTL (the most hard type of maps to find for me): 354DE2, 3711B4 and 3D3FB0. Since 354DE2 (710Nm) and 3711B4 (656.9Nm) are not limiting, I think it could be 3D3FB0 (560Nm in my stock bin) after all. I'll report back after checking it out.

If you want I have a complete map pack for this SW from a X3 F25 :-)

    Oh and I forgot
    36FC9C TQ limiter 8x1
