Default Satellite PC card a Pain in the arse

I had on the last count four satellite PC cards

    Hauppauge Win TV

    Technisat Sky star 2

    TwinHan

    No Name Chinese

The first two have stopped working.
For the Twinhan, the computer won't recognise the driver.
The N/N Chinese locks the computer whenever I reboot.

I have tried them on different computers and different card slots all the computers running Windows XP.
The computers being mainly P4s with a gig of ram.
Hope however lives eternal and have recently purchase off
Ebay.Oz a USB version for thirty odd bucks.

I shall put some effort into my dreambox dm500, they seem
    to be getting pretty cheap.
I am sure I paid several hundred dollars for it a few years back but have seen the Yanks selling a clone for sixty odd dollars.
Has the DM500 been superseded by something that is better
    at decoding?
