Just use a multi-meter and find the ground check for continuty from any capacitor labeled wit a black strip.
The next point next to Ground is Reset after Reset is VVD and on the oposite side of ground is Data
Ilustrations show as follow.
* simulate BDM pads.
N/A mean not used or not avilable.
typical show as 2 row of 3 points could be horizontal or vertical.

---------------CONFIGUTARATION 1 ---------------------------
* DATA * N/A * N/A
* GND * RESET * VvD
------------------CONFIGUTARATION 2 ---------------------------
* GROUND * RESET * VvD
* Data * N/A * N/A

UPA will do any 912 as long as they aren't secure, no need of rs260 or 270 or else, as far as X-progm as log it support motorola MCU 68hc9s12 you are ok.

All that is in the two pictures mate ..
so that would be
----------------CONFIGUTARATION 4 ---------------------------
* N/A * N/A * DATA
* VvD * RESET * GND
..........................
Its the position of the wires relative to each other .. VSS opposite BGDB.. RESET next to VSS and VDD next to it ... its always the same ..

Hate to burst your bubble mate .. but the diggy wiggy can't read 9S12 mcus .. without an adaptor .. (which does not work very well anyway) .. Use UPA .. or Xprog . and post the dump ... OR do the job ObD ..
I managed to do 08/2005 E-250 with it...which has 9S12

ok here is what I got, I soldered the st-48 to bdm, went under ford Escape menu, read 0 miles. didn't want to change anything, so went under eeprom menu mcu motorola 9s12, read ok, I could see the data. the I used tachosoft for edit
Car type: Ford Escape - 9s12ZH256
The mileage is stored in the next lines:
0720: xx xx xx xx xx xx xx xx xx xx xx xx 1E 5C xx xx
0730: 1E 5C xx xx 1E 5C xx xx 1E 5C xx xx 1E 5C xx xx
0740: 1E 5C xx xx 1E 5C xx xx 1E 5C xx xx 1E 5C xx xx
0750: 1E 5C xx xx 1E 5C xx xx 1E 5C xx xx 1E 5C xx xx
0760: 1E 5C xx xx 1E 5C xx xx 1E 5C xx xx 1E 5C xx xx
0770: 1E 5C xx xx 1E 5C xx xx 1E 5C xx xx xx xx xx xx
where the next bytes:
1E 5C - is a mileage
My original values were 1D63 ( cars mileage 60,xxx mi ).
I changed the values to 1263 (38,xxx mi )
And hit write, everything was written ok. Now When I put cluster in, it shows "ERROR mi" in mileage window . car doesn't start. Is there another location for mileage that needs to be changed also ?
No mate .. sorry .. Have you tried putting back in the original file?
I wanted to try editing the 4 values first ( 1D63 original to 129A new) instead of just the 2 first . maybe there is some kind of corruption in that...
After changing the values to 129A, everything went back to normal.
