Default Extracting PIN from MK5 Golf 2007

Is there a cheap way to extract the PIN from the cluster of a 2007 VW Golf MK5?

    Cheers

From what I understand, from mid 2006 VW encrypted their dash pins but I hear you can read them from the engine ECU. I'm not sure if this can be read via obd with CAN commander or if you have to use a programmer. Can somebody help shed some light on this for us?

    Cheers
