    Hi,

I was looking at getting the VU+ Duo as it looks like the best box. However, I was just wondering if any one could tell me if you can set up weekly recordings or series links?

I currently have an Openbox S10 and you can only record daily or once. :-/

Also, I've read that with linux boxes you can get the EPG to show the whole 7 days, using plugins. Is this possible with the VU+ Duo?

    Thanks in advance.

You only need a plugin for epg.

Look also to clarktech Linux pvr.
    Also nice box.

    hi all

i?m interested in your comments for xtrends et5000.

I try to find a good quickly easy to use all in one image for my new box. I found a pod image which is very easy to use but still not work with easy lighting functions...

Which one could be the best way?

Sorry if the questions a very simple. Not looking to pay over ?200 if can be avoided and have been looking at a few boxes.

Looking for something which will have:

    Important (In order of preference):
Full HD - good picture quality
Easy to use - menu driven, update via usb
Good EPG feature - 7 days would be nice
    Recording
Internet - with Flash? Sopcast add-on?

    Desirables:
    WiFi built in
Wireless keyboard add on - to get the best out of Internet.

The more I look he more confused I getting by finding out more feature you can have (PIP, recording, etc). Just your opinion, I have been looking at the Blade 7000 for value, but then I want more from the box, also considering the Spiderbox 9000, Icecrypt S3500 or S4000 or Vu+ Solo. Any thoughts? AZBox Premium HD seems to have it all.

From your experiences, is the the box, the satellite equipment (dish, lnd & signal) or the subscription which has the most impact on picture quality?

I have only seen two unit in action, DM500 which was SD package but even that was very poor quality. And the Blade 7000 which was on a HD package but has super picture quality.

    Many thanks in advance

    All about budget and quality.
Lots of support everywhere for Dreambox, probably the most common boxes but lots of choices nowadays with the likes of Openbox,Vu Duo,Blade,Technomate etc

i agree with andy91 - it depends on your budget. i have been in this hobby now for 14months, my 1st box was a technomate 800hd which lasted 3months then i bought my vu+ duo - i still have this box and its truly amazing. i have a open box s9 in the bedroom and its rubbish. in the last 6months i have bought a few clone vu solo's and clone duo's these are good for the money & i have bought a few DM500hd clone also very good. i would say either vu+ or dream box clone but again my main box is an original duo never missed a beat.

Currently have a DM800HD SE clone and that's going fine.

I now want Sly + type recording, so I will need a dual tuner box.

Is the Vu+ Duo the box to get?

Looking at getting a clone from the PRC.

Also, if I record some encoded channel on of the HDD, can I lift that off and watch it on my laptop, or does the recording need decoded to watch? Maybe that's a daft question.

ANyway sat mat says says the box is good & are available for just over a one'r, any tips would be good.

A fine STB, on Linux, E2 and Spark dual booting, good software support (evolving) and a fair price: Amiko Alien 8900; support a mini keyboard also (useful in internet browsing, Youtube, etc.). Well sold in the USA and Canada (see US forums to belive; amaizing that DM is unknown in the US). Hungarian brand very simmilar to the german Golden Media (also remarcable, fair price). Both, from one to three tuner models!

Hi, some may be sick of newbies like me, but i've had a little read of the whole satellite set-up and want to switch from cable!

Currently on Starview 7, so i'll need to install a dish.

    Budget is around ?160ish.

The lure of satellite is the 3pm kick off's and the majority of football matches from across Europe (Bundesliga, La Liga, Serie A etc) they're a must in a box i'm looking to purchase. Not too sure on what's on offer, but the DM500s (clone, of course) is the cheapest i've come across. Any improvements on that within my budget?

I've got FreeSat, but not sure on the size of the dish. Would it suffice?

Not fussed on HD or not, but if my budget allows it, or is just slightly over then i'd look into it.

There's a debate regarding IP & Linux, i'm fairly computer competent - so Linux is probably what i'd go for.

That's basically what i'm looking for, not the high end set-up's - just the basics to get a few sport channels!

I'd appreciate any replies & info - Thanks.
