Try to use both LPT and USB cable.
Perform the hardware test before using it read and write EPROM.

My software version is 0.98D11. i believe the problem is installation related as Test hardware always say check power and connection. there definitely is not connection between programmer and pc.

Xprog-m cannot do the job, willem should do. For willem and 29F200, 29F400 you would need a PSOP 44 to DIP 32 Adapter.

Is that proper adapter for programming-reading 29f400 & 29f800 that it's on Mercedes-Benz ECU with Willem programmer?

Yes, it is used for those chips but only for the specific programmer.

To avoid buying wrong adapter even it looked the same, if you're not sure of the adapter configuration (wiring), buy the same maker as the programmer or can buy from different maker but with clearly applicable indication. The adapter in the link is for PSOP44 package to DIP32 but not a universal one. It can only be used with its own Willem programmer to program 29F400 etc. unless the other programmers stated that this adapter is applicable. And for sure this adapter cannot be used with all other 48 pin ZIF socketed programmer such as Beeprog, Labtool-48UXP, Willon and more. They normally use PSOP44 to DIP44 but maybe with their own specific configuration again. One of my programmers is GQ3-X Willem-USB with ZIF 32pin socket, its same adapter look same to the one in the link and may be used.
