    Hello !

Passat TDI 140, BKP engine. 2006

Today i tried to change the defective steering column lock with a new one purchased from VW

I have the pin code, and i verified that i have security access to IMMO controller, before removing the old one.

I removed battery and i changed the lock.

After that, i plugged battery, switched on ignition and tried to get security access to immo, but the pin code was not recognised. after 3 attemt, the immo controller is locked for 250 minutes. Impossible to match the new lock.

Has anyone ever had this problem? Do you have a solution to offer?

    Thank you !

Now you have 250 min lock time , which means you have to have ignition On for 4 hr and 10 min.
You can switch ignition on if you jump pin 1 and pin 16 at OBD plug.

    Did you follow this procedure:

Thx ! That's what i was going to do.

My problem is that the pin code was refused by immo controller after changing the lock ! The pin was verified before.

And i can get ignition on, but of course withe the coil blinking.

    Thx.
I already have ignition, even with old and new ELV. So should i wake up the immo with brake pedal and high beam procedure ?

Second' what do you mean by disconnect all short fuse lines ?

Last question, can i do hot swap with ELV ? ie changing them when ignition on and security accsess ?

This is suggestion from other thread , so many members had susses with this:
When lock time is out, Put old lock back, give ignition, enter pin,go to Ch51, do not turn ignition off, or go out form VCDS screen, unplug old, plug new, press Do It! and done...

Thx yugo45 ! this tip seems to be great.

I dont have to enter the pin code in channel 51 as a new value instead of 32000 ?? I don't have to read before group 00 of measuring block ?

Please explain more the procedure !!.

    I'll try it after 2h43min.

    Bad news.
Wait for 250 minutes, immo lock time chanded to 0. I plugged the old lock, but no more ignition. I tried to connect to immo without security access or pin attempt, but time lock was again 250.

In summary, no ignition with old lock, ignition ok with the new lock, but pin code is not recognised.

I'm fed up with that car

Something is wrong, if you enter one time wrong Pin it should be only 10 min.

I didn't enter any pincode, time lock changed to 250 just by plugging back old lock.

Someone told me that it was due to a software bug inside comfort module, mine was considered as first generation.

Tomorrow the car will be moved to an official VW workshop to match this fu...y lock. I hope they will not discover another disaster.

    Thx for all !

Ok, end of the history :
VW was unable to match the new lock, they sad that my new lock was already plugged on another car....... because they get timelock 250 after plugging it.

May be i'ts possible, because the box was not sealed.

A good friend of mine exchaged the eeprom of old lock into new one, and now everything is ok !

Thx for all for your help ! Great forum.

Not a so happy end :
Same problem occurs again : twice or three times a day, when the car is running, three long beeps and display steering lock defective. The car run, but impossible to start again due to immo activation.

VCDS : immo and central convivience modules : 003 defective. Evrything is normal after erasing fault.

Now the car is in a VW dealer, they will try to flash confort module with ODIS.

    Any suggestion ?
