Default BILLIONAIRE NEW YORKERS IN ?100M TAKEOVER BID

BENITEZ: Unlikely to be around to spend the money

RAFA BENITEZ is considering his Anfield future as Liverpool chiefs line up a new ?100million investment in the club.

The Kop boss has reached breaking point and accepts it is now virtually impossible to take the team forward.
But off the field, the club has lined up a spectacular deal with the Rhone Group - reported to be worth ?3billion - to dilute the controversial ownership of Tom Hicks and George Gillett.
The New York-based private equity firm have begun due diligence with a view to buying around a 40 per cent stake in the club.
The ?100m deal would see controlling interest pass to billionaire financiers Robert Agostinelli and Steven Langman.
If the deal goes through it would repay the club's Royal Bank of Scotland debt and enable work to begin on the ?350m new stadium.
There would also be considerable investment in the transfer market - although it is unlikely Benitez will be the man to spend it.
He has reached the stage where he believes it is time to quit Anfield, with Real Madrid a possible destination in the summer.
That would then allow potential new owners to install their own man at the Liverpool helm.
Managing director Christian Purslow has been scouring the globe to meet a summer deadline to repay ?100m of a ?237m debt to RBS.
There is still interest from India, Saudi Arabia and Kuwait but the Rhone Group are seen as the most viable proposition in the market.
Founded by Agostinelli and Langman in 1996, the Rhone Group describes itself as 'one of the world's leading mid-market private equity firms'.
They specialise in mergers, acquisitions and leveraged buy-outs and have offices in New York, London and Paris.
The new Americans would take a controlling interest, leaving Hicks and Gillett with around a 30 per cent stake each.
The Rhone Group's co- founder Agostinelli, 56, is an Italian-American executive based in Paris who lists former US President George W Bush and current French President Nicolas Sarkozy amongst his friends. His high-flying wife, Mathilda, runs the French office of Prada and was a witness at Sarkozy's secret wedding to Carla Bruni.
Agnostinelli and Langman, 48, have worked together at several top Wall St firms before setting up the Rhone Group 14 years ago.

Fact is m8 we are one of the biggest clubs in the world and the Yanks know they can get the investment or sell and make a massive profit whenever they want.

TBH the nmoney side has never really bothered me. You get fans saying Benitez hasn't got any money to spend blah blah blah. Money has always been available to every manager and will continue to be so.

We had no money to spend this season some will say, well we spent ?37m on Two players who were a waste of money, namely Keane and Aquilini. If thats having no money to spend then i'm ~~~~ed if i know how much is classed as having money.

Well at least Bulld0g you are making some sort of sense,
of course you're are one of the biggest clubs in the world,
in fact you're surely in the top 10 in the world ( correct me if im wrong)
my beef is with the lfc fans who seem to think that everything will be rosy in the garden once a little fine tuning is in place.

Thing is, and we all know that lfc were the epitome of football in the 70's and 80's...and a huge amount of fans are now the spawn of that era's "glory hunters" no one is denying that, but now you're a beaten bird.
(spare me the born n bred n liverpool mantra)

and yet you still sit on your high horse still telling it as it's suppose to be done .
you give evertonions a hard time because you think they're beneath you, even though they are constantly maintaining their status in english football, and they dont have a quarter the turnover that you have.

You constantly look over the fence prayin that united and chelsea lose.
It always appears as if it's you against the world.

Truth is, from a worldwide point of view your club is in bits.. , your debate is that you are still 6th in the permiership,or that you'r in the europa cup.. the way things are going it wont be long before you are comparing yourselves to accrington stanley so it makes you feel better.

    Ohh and before you start..

yeah i know..history, twat, bellend, softarse.. etc.. yeh.yeh ive heard it all before.

Well first off m8 i don't use language like that when having a sensible discussion. I can do though
Seriously though m8 i think your jumping on the "lets slag Liverpool off bandwagon" How many fans do you REALLY know that think everything in the garden is rosey ? I doubt very much you will find more than the odd one or two singing our praises.

Yes we're having a terrible season by our standards. I get stick off Evertonians in work. can you believe that ?? We're having a dire season yet they would still swap with us. We are fighting for a Champions leage place and in the Europa League. and yes Everton are beneath us. The have finished above us something like 3 times in 20 years and their last trophy was in 1995. Are we supposed to respect that record ?
How many clubs would class our disatrous season as a successful one for them ? All bar the top Three is the answer.

As far as us your comments about us against the world.. yes i agree. You would't understand that m8. Only Liverpool fans do.We lead everyone follows. It's been like that ever since i can remember. Liverpool fc and it's fans are unique. whether you agree or not, that's just how it is.

Make no mistake this club will come good and start winning majour trophies again soon. It's what we do. We're not like Leeds a club who disappeared into oblivion. We are still there or thereabouts every season even in this , our darkest days.

One kast commen, Glory hunters from 30-40 years ago get it right m8. Anyone still following the club on the back of those days is not a glory hunter. Glory hunters don't stick around for that long.

Maybe you don't but lots of your peers do.

With all due respect to Evertonions, comparing lfc to Efc is a non-starter imo,

Evertonions know at the start of each season, premiership or a place in the top 4 is pretty much a non-starter, the downside to this is that champs league will not be an issue the following season.
The best they can hope for is fa cup, carling cup,or an uefa place, but they seem to maintain that dignity throughout the years while still being a football fan's favorite.
Everyone knows this including Efc fans, and they are content with this as long as the club is maintaining this dignity...
You say... "They have finished above us something like 3 times in 20 years and their last trophy was in 1995. Are we supposed to respect that record"

The answer to that is yes, because they have that dignity..
Do you here them harp on about they won the league 2 outta 3 in the 80's?? not really, do you hear wolves fan on about how they won the league in the 50's?? no....because it's HISTORY!!!

Comparing your club to others not fortunate to have your support reeks of "glory days and days gone by"

One last thing.. i was talking about the spawn of glory hunters.. in case you dont remember lfc last won the first division 20 years ago and not 30-40 years as quoted by yourself.
