Not Keano's fault if he's played out of position and receives no supply for the 60 odd minutes Rafa allows him...Keano has never been any good as an out and out frontman.
Ball to feet + Keane + proper position = chances created for the frontman.
Down through the years Irish managers would leave him up top running around like he was Dirk Kuyt or something.
The following weekend in the Premiership he would be partnered with Berbatov, playing in the spaces linking midfield and the frontman:
Berbatov would score twice, both created by Keane.
I could have told Rafa that buying Keane and sticking him up top would be pointless!
Liverpools biggest problem is the gulf in quality between Torres, Gerrard, Reina, Carragher, Keane and the remainder of the squad.
Chelsea and United have much more balanced squads with much more talent on the bench to change things...we have:
- Andrea "Plays like he is named" Dossena
- Fabio "Whats a 20 yard pass" Aurelio
- Lucas "No seriously, I'm Brazilian" Leiva
- Dirk "Heart of a lion, skills of a donkey" Kuyt
- Yossi "My niece could shoulder him off the ball" Benayoun
- Alvaro "Comeback Stevie Finan" Arbeloa
- Albert "Nice first touch, great sidestep...but why are you running in slow-motion and now you've lost possession" Riera
- Etc....
If Rafa can win the league with this squad, which he built, he will have earned his place amongst the greats!
