Use a simple K-Line reader and Licznik-4.8a for code

Does the first schematic from here: http://blog.perquin.com/blog/category/odbii/ work as a converter?

I have found most K-Line hardware is ok, some people have COM1 problems but a simple change of tool fixes it.
This simple schem will work without errors

Thank you! Is seems that it's time for me to start decoding. Unfortunately I don't have max 232 ic to hand, but i will buy 2 or 3 pieces, as it's quite cheap... Good think that I have experience in electronics

Another way is to buy an RX/TX usb adapter then make a K-Line adapter, like this:

Interesting idea, but I will build the MAX232 based interface, as I already have an old laptop with serial port. I will come back to you as soon as I will get the job done. Thanks.

    Hello friends !

I finally built the interface... Here it is:

But for me it works a little strange... It shows a code only when the laptop comes back from Stand-BY Otherwise it shows ”error”

Besides this it shows 2 different codes :

    First one:

This is shown regardless of the state of the radio (ON or OFF), or regardless if pin +BATT is connected with +IGNITION at the +12v source, or if i only use +IGNITION.

    The second code:

This one is shown if both +BATT and +IGNITION are connected to the 12v source, and after I press simultaneously the AS and ON/OFF knob. Mounted in the car, the radio shows 7SAFE after I press the above-mentioned buttons. Which of the 2 codes should I use? How can I reset the number of tries for the code?

@Fradebo, thanks for the code, but the person from which I have bought the radio told me that it is ”permanently decoded” (Yeah, sure, it seems that I've been double crossed by him), so someone else may have tried to change the code...

    Thank you !

7safe gives you a wait of about 30 minutes.
Just leave it on and wait until it changes. Then put in 1 of the codes. If not OK you have to wait longer...
The set is blocked after 10 attempts. After succesful input you change to zero.
Have you tried the original code that I gave you ?

    regards Fradebo

PS There is no such thing as permanently decoded.
The code is always there. You can deactivate it by entering and confirming it twice.
