    Default KWP2000 problem

    Hi Guys,

I've bought this "tool" a few years ago but never really used it...

Now, when I would need it (reading a Smart 800 CDI ECU) it does not work...

I have the interface installed on a laptop with Vista operating system. It recognises it as it should - serial K Line interface.

I open the KWP soft., select the Smart from the list, and when the window pops up, it shows: "kick not found"

What can I do to make it connect to the car?

I've tried connecting it to the car via the OBD cable! I've tried it on a Xsara HDI, and receive the same error!

Could the problem lie in the fact that I use the OBD cable?

Should I try to read the ECU out of the car?

you most proberly have a bad tool, lots out there, they are hit and miss galattos and kwp2000 units being clones.

but is this the same car u having problems with the ecu on the other topic?, if so the kwp2000 may not be able to wake the ecu.

yeah, the car is the same, Smart 0.8 CDI

The ECU works if the flash memory is cooled down, so I even able to drive the car with the frozen ECU - and when I tried the readout, the flash was cooled down

yesterday I spent my whole day trying to read out the dump from the ECU - at the end of the day on around the 3rd. computer with XP, and the ECU on table I managed to read out ECU data, and started reading the dump out, but it always stops at 2%...

so my KWP is a big useless brick!

I'm on the hunt for a Galletto
