Me i change transistor TIP42C end BCP56 end resistors with nuber 331, 222, 153, end diode (red) ...is 5,1volt end 7,5volt ....now my system work.
(This system is very very bad. The problem is with 24volt, with trucks. The TIP42C end resistor 331 ...baked)

Default rs 232 cable for star 2000?

Greetings to all members here- all the best in the new year,

I have a genuine Mercedes multiplexer Part D3, who worked with Compact 4 PC (touch screen IS BROKEN NOW and some components on main board is burned out, repair is too expencive) multiplexer is still valid and work fine, but I need the connection cable that will connect the classic PC through COM port RS-232 (i have IBM T 30, with com port). I bought the cable through e-Bay, but he is wearing a black box on which was written 232-485, with this cable can not be connected to the star 2000 multiplexer with computer! this is cable for C3 mux and this hawe difrent wiring sheme! , whether someone has a wiring diagram for this star 2000 cable without black box ? , the connectors are the same, with one side connects to the RS 232 and the other on the multiplexer,

thanks in advance for your help

Did you check what is inside the black box with the label "RS232 - RS485"? If it is empty, you need another cable, one which comes with high quality multiplexers (if you were my neighbour, I would sell you the spare one I have).

If the cable seems to have a real RS485 converter, either the cable or the mux or your laptop serial port is broken. IBM T30 laptops sometimes have issues with the serial port. It would be useful to check the laptop with another multiplexer set that is known to work from a serial port.

I guess the mux is unlikely broken if it was working fine until your tablet got broken.

    hello,

i have the same mux and is broken.
those resistors from 100 and 102, does anybody know the value of these.

i desoldered them and the one with 100 gives me 10 ohm
the one with 102 gives me 1000 ohm.

    is this correct ?

    thanks and regards

    100 it`s 10*10^0=10 ohm, 102 it`s 10*10^2=1000 ohm or 1 kohm.

    hello DK members.
I also have a dead MUX, this one is a clone china type.
It works fine with 38 pin cars, but not with OBDII.
DK member Hurtman helped me to find the problem. Thanks for that mate.
here is the caesar test I did.

Please notice in red are the faults.

Special Test ... 3001 Error in CAN1 environment on Part D2 board ( I read that are caused by dead CAN CHIPS ( 2 of them on all MUXs)
    D2 ADC ... 2500 Error ADC ( I read that this caused by a bad MAX192BCWP)
    Here is my dilemma:

    a) I am not sure which are the CAN chips..i am guessing that the AN82527 are the ones that need to be replaced, since they are the only ones that are SERIAL COMMUNICATIONS CONTROLLER AREA NETWORK PROTOCOL chips found on the board. ( image 1)
    b) I did found the MAX192BCWP)
    c) main question is, which ones should I replace first? the CAN chips or the MAX192BCWP, or should I change all of them?
    Any ideas are very welcome.
    Cheers.

Thanks to NIKI85 that he posted on another DK thread the solution to one of the faults.
Thanks to Hurtman that posted also another fix for the problem.
And of course thanks to all DK members gurus !!!

Most likely, there is no connection between PC and MUX

Agree - and most probable cause the rs232 chips are gone

My star C3 isn't tested. At first the strip runs quickly, and then at the end stops and in 7 minutes, gives out errors.
