Default Do Commuter Bicyclists Make You Crazy?

I've been a commuting by bicycle year-round for over two years now. It's become quite apparent that the presence of a bicycle being ridden on the road evokes strong a emotional response from many motor vehicle drivers.

I was just wondering if anyone here had any thoughts that they would share on this topic.

    Positive - or Negative -

If commuter cyclists aquainted themselves with the basic concepts of The Highway Code, and obeyed road signs and traffic signals, I don't think there would be a problem.

I would make a couple of laws,
if there is a cycle path right next t the ~~~~ing road.. USE IT!!! If they dont, they should be considered fair game..
If they have a car and pay raod tax, they should either have to wear a sign stating this or drive the car... if they do neither, they should be fair game.

Compulsory insurance would be a good start as well, that way they would pay for the accidents they cause. I'm not saying they cause them all, but I've seen them run red lights, hit pedestrians, generally ignore the law and cause accidents.

I think they are good. Each cyclist is one less car on our over congested roads.
I agree with shady tho, if there is a cyclepath use it, but what a piss poor job Britain has done with cycle paths? A bloody line painted down the side of the road?
There will be some minister or councillor patting himself on the back saying I have created x thousand miles of cycle paths.. if he is proud of his work, let him put his 10 year old daughter on cycle commute down it. I certainly wouldn't. I and my daughter pedal down the footpaths, and that wont change.

    case in point;
ladies and gentlemen, i present to you the b5000 glascote road. A road i drive down every day, and 9 times out of ten, a road on which cyclist are on.. NOT on the clearly marked cycle path.. not cycle lane on road.. a special, thousand of pounds worth, pavement widening scheme to add a cycle path.. roadworks adding time onto my journey for weeks for these selfish ~~~~ing bikers who refuse to use it!!

on a lighter note.. 97p a litre eh? them were the days

97p, yeah, took em a while to break the 1 Quid barrier, but once they did the price took off like a scalded cat. bassads, probably the same minister that upped the price that painted the white lines. fud.

WHOA there was several cycl;ist threads.

Yes shady i pay ROAD tax - my vechile *DRINKS* fuel in the traffic
cycle to work - save approx ?7 a week in fuel - use that money to wards other things

Cycling is GREAT - you can cut the traffic out - you get to admire the tasty birds in the morning.

It is give or take 10 seconds the same time to drive as it is to cycle to work/home.

As it's winter - cycling makes you feel warner - so you don't notice the cold at work.
