    Default Free Blackberry Unlocking Tool

This free tool supports a limited range of MEP's but many of you will still find it useful. If this tool does not support your phone (i.e. MEP not found) then you'll need to post a request in the Blackberry unlock code section once it is up and running again!

Note: Unless you have at least one valid forum post you can not download the file!

If you already have your MEP and IMEI then jump to Step 8/9 and enter the IMEI manually and select the MEP from the drop down menu.

    1. Install Blackberry Desktop manager. If you don't have it visit: Cell Phones, Smartphones & Mobile Phones from BlackBerry.com you'll find it there!

    2. Download the unlocker: Digital Kaos - Downloads - BlackBerry Unlocker

2a. Newer version can be found here: http://www.digital-kaos.co.uk/forums...ml#post1499582
no password for this version!! <<<--- NEW <<<---

    3. Un-RAR the file using the Password: fromdigitalkaos

    4. Just copy the files into a directory (folder) of your choice.

    5. Run the program BlackBerryTools_2.exe

    6. Connect handset, wait for drivers to load and then click MEP Reader (1).

    7. Then click on MEPReader button (2).

    8. Now click on Blackberry Tab (3). Check MEP and IMEI are correct - If not enter the correct details.

    9. Then click on Calculate (4).

    10. To find out how to enter your code click on MEP Reader Tab (5) and then on HOW TO button (6).

    11. Follow the instructions given for your handset.

Please do not attempt to post comments in this thread as it should be self-explanatory. If you can not follow these instructions the do not use the software.

I may sound a little naive but what exactly will unlocking my bb do for me? Is it just so i can use it on any network or is it like a jailbreak for an iphone? Thanks, Nags

unlocking is for the networks as you say, not like jail breaking unlocking restores to factory unlock state so does not void warranty etc. it has nothing to do with apps etc

    Hey Ray,

You ever think people may be concerned with bricking their Blackberry perhaps that's why they are asking questions. I noticed you enjoy being abrasive and shutting people down. Just telling everyone to try it and shut up seems uncalled for. BTW, Im not asking a question just posting my comment

If you had looked at the software you would realise that it can not brick a phone and you would not have posted such a naff comment!

My first post detailing this program said quite clearly don't ask questions because if you need to ask questions, then it is obvious that the user should ask someone else to do the task!

Please do not attempt to post comments in this thread as it should be self-explanatory. If you can not follow these instructions then do not use the software.

So before posting such drivel may be you should read through the thread first??

BTW, I'm only posting the bloody obvious!

That will depend on how new the phone is.

If you fail to find the MEP code in the supported list. Try using the PRD from under the battery.
