    Welcome to DK tmlarsen.

You need top post a full sysCheck report as instructed in that link. That will show us your system and which wads you've installed.

It's a little bit out of date but no reason why it won't recognise hdd. Either the hdd is not compatible or the file structure is wrong

But I haven't changed anything on the hdd...
It worked yesterday - but now with the new files on the sd card, the disc is not discovered. It is showing the 20 seconds countdown and giving up..

Today, I have tried to update the wii from 3.4 to 4.3e, and I have tried to install the patches from the file you referred to earlier in this thread - and I have updated the USB Loader.
But the result is the same.. No connection.. (and it is in the correct usb port..)

What new files did you add to the SD card?

You are plugged into the USB port nearest the edge?

If you've updated from 3.4E to 4.3E that sysCheck is showing:

    System Menu 4.3E (v514)

Was this taken after the update and resoftmod?

As HH says its probably down to an incompatible drive or the file structure.

How did you add the games to the drive?

There is a full cios wad pack in the downloads section that contains the updated versions of game cios, it also has mmm so just extract to blank sd card then reload to ios 236 if your not already on it and install all wads, or extract the wads to your current wad folder and install them. I have set it up to use the blank sd card method as it's easier and reduces user errors caused by not following instructions or paying attention to what wads you should be installing

Yes syCheck after installing the updates.

MMM will uninstall wads but I wouldn't recommend you do that as it may brick your Wii.

If you did a NAND backup after you softmodded you could always but the original NAND back but that won't be the original because its already been softmodded.

I have just discovered a new problem...
On the new wii (black model), the wimote is not working in the USB Loader GX... My old white wiimote is working without problems on the new black machine, but the black wiimote is just turning off..

    What can I do?

So the wimote only stops working in USB Loader GX, in the other Loaders and apps its ok?

I would do a virus and malwarebytes scan the SD card and download it again or Usbloader gx 2.3 r1128 and d2x v7 with mmm 13.4

Oh by the way yours was sysCheck v2.1.0b11 whats wrong with my sysCheck v2.1.0b17 which I ask everyone to post?

Post a new one sysCheck v2.1.0b17

What does it matter what version number of syscheck he used as long as the wad version numbers can be read it makes no difference. The wii is black so we know it can't play dvdr

Not really its just that b17 shows the Drive date for reference.

The black Wii I softmodded a few weeks ago had Drive date: 2008.12.18 which is similar to my white Wii Drive date: 2008.07.14.

Wii's after 2009 aren't supposed to play DVD-R discs mine doesn't not that I'm bothered.

Like I said keith we know it's a black wii so cannot play dvdr, he said in his last post that his white remote plays on his black wii but not his black remote as well as the fact nobody has mentioned anything about dvdr as the thread is about usb loader not recognising the hdd, plus the fact I was not aware that you knew anything about using dvdr safely.
