    Default CATERPILLAR Training Material

    ELECTRICITY

    This course introduces the student to basic electrical and electronic fundamentals needed by a technician to properly diagnose and repair
    the complex electrical systems installed in Caterpillar machines.

    At the completion of this course, the student will have working knowledge of basic electrical theory, components and basic electrical
    systems. Using Caterpillar electrical schematics, test equipment and other reference literature the student will be able to operationally test Caterpillar machine systems. The student will also be able to troubleshoot, diagnose and repair electrical components and electrical systems.

    CAT ENGINE FUNDAMENTALS

    This course introduces you to basic diesel engine theory and service procedures. Caterpillar engine systems and applications will be studied. Several Caterpillar Engines will be presented with emphasis on the 3406 due to its high field population.
    To effectively perform diagnosis, repair, and service, it is necessary to have a complete understanding of the operating principles and construction of diesel engines.

    UNIT 3- LUBRICATION

    This presentation will review components and operation of a Caterpillar 3406 lubrication system. This system is typical of a Caterpillar engine, but some engines will differ. Engines that use the HEUI fuel system will differ significantly.

    FUEL SYSTEM
    OVERVIEW
    This course introduces the student to the various fuel systems used on Caterpillar Engines. The student will become familiar with fuel selection, calibrations and nozzle testing procedures, in addition, to governor operation and hydraulic fuel ratio controls. The studentwill also become familiar with the 1.1 and 1.2 MUI and HEUI fuel systems, in addition, to the EUI, Nippondenso and Zexel fuel systems.
